The Visus series was introduced by Leica in 2016. With these riflescopes, Leica combined traditional and modern elements, focusing mostly on the finish. Especially conspicuous are the glossy models which look great on vintage firearms.
Visus is an outcome of elegance with a touch of modernity. These riflescopes with a 4x zoom factor can be ordered in two different finishes: matte and glossy. Glossy versions look especially nice on vintage firearms with engravings. Presently, glossy riflescopes are difficult to find on the market, which makes these stand out of the crowd. The aluminium surface of each is hand-polished for several hours to achieve the final, desired look.
These second focal plane scopes have the parallax fixed at 100 m. In contrast to the Magnus i series, Visus riflescopes do not have the illumination intensity compartment at the top of the eyepiece but in the standard spot, as one of the additional turrets. To get to the battery compartment, the cap of the turret has to be unscrewed (there is a slot for a CR2032 battery underneath). There are 9 illumination intensity levels to choose from – the dot is compatible with daytime brightness as well as dusk. There is also an off-switch between each individual intensity level so that the user can quickly turn the illumination off and return to the previous setting. Leica added the power-off function, so that the battery life will be preserved in case the user forgets to turn off the illumination. The traditional red background of Leica’s logo is replaced with the black colour, adding to the elegance.
Visus riflescopes feature hunting, capped turrets that produce fine, crisp clicks. One click moves the point of impact for 1 cm on 100 m. The turrets are clockwise – rotating the elevation turret in a clockwise direction will move the point of impact up. Rotating the windage turret in a clockwise direction will move the point of impact to the right. All the models have a generous eye relief of 100 mm.
All the models from this series come with a 30mm tube. The matte models can also be ordered with a Zeiss ZM/VM rail underneath.
All Visus models are made in Portugal.
The compact size and 42mm objective lens make this riflescope ideal for stalking but it also performs well in other hunting situations because of its universal magnification range. It offers a convenient field of view – 14.5 m at 100 m at the lowest magnification. The 10x magnification will provide the user with excellent detail recognition and reliable identification of the game observed. Its parallax is fixed at 100 m. The model can be ordered with a matte or glossy finish. There is only one reticle available: L-4A. The model with matte finish can also be ordered with a Zeiss ZM/VM rail underneath and a BDC elevation turret (for glossy version, this option is not offered).
