Similar to its PST brother, this is a scope that is firstly meant for long range shooting. Unlike the mentioned PST though, it is not so much for sport shooters than for hunters. It does not have illuminated cross-hairs, and the reticle itself is set at the SFP, but the hairs are very fine and will not cover the target even at the large, 24x magnification. The BDC reticle is also created for shooting at longer ranges where placement of the first shot is critical, to give the hunters the edge that they need.
The fast focus eyepiece, XD lens for low light dispersion, and the XR coating will keep you sight clear and focused, while the large lens will give you enough light. If there is too much light, the 4-inch sun shade option will compensate for that. Overall, it is a great, long distance hunting scope for a reasonable price.
The tube is machined out of a single piece of aircraft grade aluminum, sealed with o-rings and hard anodized. This will make it durable at any conditions, and will protect it from damp, sunlight, strikes and scratches. The scope is also water-tight and shock proof. The XD, low light dispersion lenses will provide a clear image and are coated with ArmotTek coating to prevent stains, scratches and to repel water, dust, oil and fingerprints. The scope is also Argon purged to prevent internal fogging.
The Viper HS series of scopes does not come with reticle illumination. The large lenses will make up for that to some point, but due to the thin reticle crosses, these are less useful at night or dim light. Nonetheless, this will make them easier to use at long ranges.
This turrets are capped for extra protection. They are easily usable, and allow for easy re-indexing as they can be reset without any tools. The side focus turret allows for parallax setting, and the quick-focus eyepiece allows for fast reticle focusing.
The scope comes with the V-Plex or the Dead-Hold BDC reticle. The V-Plex is an all-purpose, easy to use reticle perfect for hunting, while the Dead-Hold has an integrated BDC system which helps with shot placement at longer ranges. Both are set in MOA with adjustment graduation of ¼ MOA per click.
Like all Viper HS models, it has increased elevation and windage travel of 42 MOA, for easy and versatile adjustment possibilities.
All Vortex scopes come with a VIP warranty, which means that if anything goes wrong the Company will cover your scope. Your scope will be either repaired or replaced if it becomes defective, without any costs for you. You can also read more about our warranty policy here.
