Sauer & Sohn, frequently referred to as Sauer, is Germany's oldest firearms manufacturer and the second oldest in the world, founded in 1751. Even though they have been around for nearly three hundred years, they remain innovative. One of their most known firearms is Sauer 38H, an advanced semiautomatic pistol that was produced in great numbers – it featured a cocking/decocking lever.
Sauer 303 is a semi-automatic rifle with a unique mounting system called Sauer ISI rail. The medium version is chambered for: .308 Win., 7x64, .30-06 Spring., 8x57 IS, 9.3x62, while the magnum version is available in .300 Win. Mag., .338 Win. Mag. (requires the use of muzzle brake). There are six locking lugs on the bolt.
This ISI mounting system was first used on Sauer 303. The standard is based on rail profile with slim slots in which the mount’s recoil stop is installed. The recoil stop can be found on proper mounting systems, designed specifically for ISI – the buyer must keep in mind to get mounts made for Sauer 303. ISI rail allows simple detachment/reattachment and is 100 % repeatable. This same unique rail can also be found on some Sauer 202 models.
Sauer ISI ring mounts are an original solution because the same manufacturer is producing both the rifle and the mounting system.
Sauer ISI scope rings are very light and made of steel. They have a perfect return to zero.
They come in two different heights for optimal mounting.
The ISI mount consists of two rings which means that this solution is not as rigid as a one-piece mount, but is lighter and more elegant.
Firstly, the user has to make sure that the rifle is fixed (it is advised that the rifle is put into a rifle holder).
Once the mount is put onto the mounting surface, the lock screw has to be unscrewed on each of the rings with a hexagonal tool.
The user then adjusts the clamping force of the adjustment screw on each ring with a torx screwdriver so that the lever moves stiffly but not too stiffly. The lock screws have to be re-tightened to complete the mounting procedure.
The recommended tightening torque is 4–5 Nm for the adjustment screw on each individual ring. The screws that connect both parts of the rings have to be tightened with a force of 2.2 Nm.
No lapping is required.
The product has a warranty period of 2 years.
