The fairly large 5.25mm exit pupil also indicates to us that their image brightness in low light conditions is also good. This model also has a reasonably wide field of view which is an advantage at closer ranges making it easier to quickly locate and then follow fast moving birds and other wildlife. Thus these binoculars put themselves forward as good general use as well as wildlife observation or birding binoculars for use at medium to close ranges and in locations like woods or forests where light conditions may not always be optimal. Note that the minimum close focus distance of 5m is relatively long for an 8x42 binocular and thus these binoculars are not a good option for those who want to study things like butterflies, other insects a very close range. The multi-position, twist-up eyecups and generous 18mm of eye relief mean that even if you wear glasses, you will be able to position your eyes at the correct distance behind the ocular lenses to achieve the full image with these Hawke binoculars.
