Hawke Vantage 8x42 Details

The 8x42 configuration along with the fully multi-coated optical system ensures that these Vantage binoculars are able to capture and then transmit a good level of light the entire way through the optical pathway. The fairly large 5.25mm exit pupil also indicates to us that their image brightness in low light conditions is also good.
This model also has a reasonably wide field of view which is an advantage at closer ranges making it easier to quickly locate and then follow fast moving birds and other wildlife. Thus these binoculars put themselves forward as good general use as well as wildlife observation or birding binoculars for use at medium to close ranges and in locations like woods or forests where light conditions may not always be optimal.
Note that the minimum close focus distance of 5m is relatively long for an 8x42 binocular and thus these binoculars are not a good option for those who want to study things like butterflies, other insects a very close range.
The multi-position, twist-up eyecups and generous 18mm of eye relief mean that even if you wear glasses, you will be able to position your eyes at the correct distance behind the ocular lenses to achieve the full image with these Hawke binoculars.

About Hawke Vantage Binoculars

Available in the most popular 8x42 and 10x42 configurations, Hawke Vantage binoculars contain many of the important components and features of the more expensive ranges from Hawke Sport Optics and thus offer a good performance to price ratio. So whilst there are obviously areas where these differ, many of the important components and features on these as their more expensive ranges like the Hawke Endurance series.

Important Features

Available in either green or grey, the tough rubber armour adds a good level of protection whilst at the same time provides an excellent slip-resistant surface. They are waterproof and with a nitrogen gas filling are also fogproof for use in all weather conditions. These binoculars have a polycarbonate chassis, which may not be quite as robust as the magnesium ones used on the more expensive Hawke ranges but they are still very robust and have the advantage of being more lightweight.
The twist-up eyecups have 3 click-stop positions which along with a long eye-relief allows for comfortable use with or without eyeglasses. The large centrally located focus wheel is easy to reach and with a smooth action makes focusing the binoculars both accurate and rapid.
These Hawke binoculars also have a diopter adjuster near the right eyepiece so they can be setup to allow for any differences in vision between your left and right eyes.

Optical Properties

The whole optical system is fully multi-coated using a special anti-reflection material to better direct the light through the device to improve both the brightness and quality of the view.
The Schmidt Pechan roof prisms enable a compact binocular design and as they are made from good quality BaK-4 optical glass are sure to compliment the good work already done by the coatings.
