Scope mounts for Bergara Scout

About the company

The Bergara company originates from the Spanish town Bergara. The company is known around the world as one of the finest barrel manufacturers. This acknowledgement goes, to a large extent, to Ed Shilen, a legendary barrel designer from the U.S., who was Chief Instructor for the United States Marine Corps Precision Weapons Section, as he helped Bergara set up a factory that would produce high-quality barrels with low production costs. They produce firearms of different designs and for different fields of use, along with various accessories and outdoor equipment. They quickly found their place on the market thanks to great quality and affordable prices. Altogether, they have more than 50 distributors, which means their products are easily acquirable throughout the world, especially in Europe.

About the rifle

Bergara Scout is a single shot, break action rifle, which is no longer in production. The barrel of the rifle is extra short, only 51 cm (20 in) long, therefore it is also light, weighing only 2,8 kg (6,2 lbs). One characteristic that adds to this low weight of the rifle is the fluted barrel. All of the Scout stocks are made of polymer, even those, which look like made of wood. It is made for lefthanded and righthanded shooters because the cheek rest is on the left and the right side.

Bergara also produces a similar BA13 break action rifle, the differences between the two are different barrel lengths, different buttstock patterns and the design of the butts themselves.

It is chambered for:

  • .222 Rem

  • .270 Win

  • .30-06

  • .308 Winchester

  • 6.5x57R

Bergara Scout has 4 drilled and tapped holes for mounting purposes. Compared to the bolt action rifles, which have ejection port and the hole positioned in 2 pairs, this rifle has all 4 holes very close to each other, with the dimensions between the front 2 holes and the rear two holes being the same, so these are also two pairs of some sort, just not as obvious as with the classic bolt action rifles.

Which rifles have interchangeable mounts?

Bergara Scout has exactly the same mounting surface as Bergara BA13, so mounts for Scout will also fit BA13 and vice versa.

Our recommendation for mounts

To install mounts on this rifle, we would recommend to first install a Picatinny rail, as the supply for the bare mounting surface for this rifle is very limited.

Fixed mounts

The only fixed mounts for this rifle without a Picatinny rail are Contessa QR mounts.

Picatinny rails

Picatinny rail is installed on top of the steel barrel, therefore the perfect Picatinny rail for this rifle would be made of steel because of the matching physical properties of the materials. Rusan Picatinny rail would be a good choice for this rifle because it is made of steel. The mount is named for Bergara BA13, but it will also fit Bergara Scout.

More information on the mechanical properties and the difference between steel and aluminium Picatinny rail can be found in our article here.

Help us build our riflescope mounts database

If you happen to own this or any other rifle, we would appreciate it if you could help us expand our database by sending us some photos of the rifle receiver (the bare mounting surface of the rifle without the mounts installed). For your help, our company offers a fair return in terms of practical rewards
