The smallest binocular within the Tasco Essential series, this tiny 8x21mm binocular also features a double-hinged body that enables it to fold up into a true pocket-sized binocular for ease of storage and carrying when not in use.
Weighing just 184g, which when combined with their tiny shape and very low cost makes this a great instrument for the budget traveler, backpacker or hiker wanting a low-cost binocular that they don’t have to worry about and which that is easy to with them everywhere they go.
Whilst the tiny 21mm lenses are great for keeping the size of these binoculars to a minimum, like small windows, they are not as efficient at collecting light as larger ones. This in combination with a simple multi-coated optical pathway and small 2.6mm exit pupil means that they are best suited to use in good light conditions.
For such a small compact, the field of view at 128m wide, when measured at a distance of 1000 meters away is very good and therefore will make these Tasco Essentials 8x21 binoculars a good choice for close range birding as a wide view makes it easier to pick up and follow small, fast-moving subjects at closer distances.
However, just be aware that at 9 meters, the minimum focus distance is relatively long, which may affect users like those who have bird feeders in the garden and who like to observe birds at very close range.
