Leica AMPLUS 6 2.5-15x56i

• 6x zoom range: The 2.5-15x magnification span covers a wide range of hunting situations, from shorter woodland shots to more deliberate placement at longer distances, without changing optics.
• 56 mm objective lens: The large front lens and > 90% light transmission help maintain a bright sight picture in the low-light periods when game is often most active.
• Illuminated SFP reticle: The red illuminated reticle in the second focal plane stays visually consistent through the zoom range, making aiming intuitive when magnification changes.
• Side parallax adjustment: Adjustable parallax from 20 m to infinity helps keep the target and reticle on the same optical plane for more precise shot placement at varying distances.
• Rugged 30 mm construction: The nitrogen-filled, waterproof, fogproof and shockproof housing is built for regular field use in changing weather and rough terrain.

About the Leica AMPLUS 6 Series

Leica introduced the AMPLUS 6 series in 2020 as an accessible entry into its premium hunting optics range. Built around a 6x zoom system, the series is intended for everyday, all-around hunting use, giving hunters practical flexibility across driven game, stalking and stand hunting. All models use illuminated reticles in the second focal plane, a layout many hunters prefer because the reticle keeps the same apparent size as magnification changes.

Shock-resistant aluminum housings and Leica lens-coating technology define the series’ design approach. The lineup includes compact low-magnification models for fast shooting as well as higher-magnification versions for more deliberate placement at distance, including 1-6x24, 3-18x44, 2.5-15x50 and 2.5-15x56 configurations. Reticle choices such as L-4a, L-4w and L-Ballistic, including BDC variants, let the series cover both straightforward hunting use and shooters who want more holdover structure. Across the range, the emphasis is on balanced optical performance, practical controls and dependable field durability rather than overly specialized competition-style features.

About the Leica AMPLUS 6 2.5-15x56i

The Leica AMPLUS 6 2.5-15x56i is the low-light oriented model in the series, combining a versatile 2.5-15x magnification range with a large 56 mm objective lens. That combination makes it especially well suited to stand hunting, twilight shooting conditions and open-country hunting where shots may vary from moderate to extended distances. At the low end, the scope still offers enough field of view for faster target acquisition, while the upper end gives the precision needed for careful shot placement when distance increases.

Its optical layout is built around a bright image and practical aiming. Light transmission above 90%, a generous 11.6-3.7 mm exit pupil and Leica’s AquaDura lens coating all contribute to a sight picture that remains usable in poor weather and fading light. The second focal plane illuminated reticle keeps a familiar visual appearance throughout the zoom range, which many hunters find quicker and less distracting than a reticle that changes size. The fine red illumination supports precise aiming without overpowering the target image.

Mechanically, this riflescope is configured for straightforward hunting use. Capped turrets protect the adjustments from accidental movement while moving through cover or carrying the rifle in a vehicle or blind. The side-focus parallax adjustment from 20 m to infinity helps sharpen the image and reduce aiming error at different distances, and the 90 mm eye relief supports comfortable shooting positions. With its 30 mm tube, 730 g weight and robust waterproof, fogproof and shockproof construction, it fits the role of a dependable hunting riflescope for regular field use.

About Leica

Leica Camera AG traces its history to 1869, when Ernst Leitz took over Carl Kellner’s Optical Institute in Wetzlar, Germany. The company remains headquartered in Wetzlar and is known for making cameras, lenses and sports optics products. Within sport optics, Leica’s range includes binoculars, spotting scopes, riflescopes and rangefinders, reflecting a long-standing focus on precision optical design.

Leica’s sports optics history includes several notable milestones. The first Leica binoculars were launched in 1907, the Trinovid line entered production in 1958, and Leica introduced the Geovid in 1992 as the first binocular with an integrated rangefinder. That background is relevant to hunting optics because it shows Leica’s long experience in combining optical clarity with practical field functionality. In riflescopes such as the AMPLUS 6, that heritage appears in the emphasis on dependable mechanics, clear image quality and field-oriented design.
