Zeiss Secacam 5 Wide-Angle

• 100° wide-angle coverage: the wide-angle lens captures more of the scene at close range, which is especially useful on feeding areas, trail junctions and other spots where animals may pass near the camera.
• Fast trigger response: a triggering time of < 0.35 ~ 0.45 seconds helps record movement before game has already left the frame, improving the chance of getting usable images instead of partial captures.
• App-based image transmission: connection through the ZEISS Secacam app makes remote monitoring more practical, so the camera can be checked without repeated visits that disturb wildlife.
• 940 nm infrared illumination: the black-LED IR system is designed for discreet night operation, helping the camera document activity after dark without drawing unnecessary attention in the field.
• Compact, field-ready housing: with a 130.00 mm body length, 320.00 g weight and waterproof, fogproof and shockproof construction, the camera is easier to position in confined locations and leave in place through changing weather.

About the Zeiss Secacam Series

The ZEISS Secacam series is built for hunters and wildlife observers who need a practical way to monitor activity without being on site. First presented with the Secacam 5 and Secacam 7 on November 15, 2023, the range has since expanded to include the Secacam 1, 3, 5 and 7, with Wide-Angle variants of the Secacam 3 and 5 for situations where broader scene coverage matters more than a narrower standard view. ZEISS positions the line from an essential entry model through to more advanced options, so users can choose according to how often they rely on remote observation and how much control they want over image transmission.

A defining characteristic of the series is its focus on app-connected remote monitoring. ZEISS states that all Secacam trail cameras use LTE with an integrated multi-roaming SIM to transmit images and videos through the Secacam app, making the system suitable for monitoring wildlife, game trails, feeding areas, nesting sites and similar habitats. Within the family, the Wide-Angle models stand out with a 100° field of view, compared with the 60° field of view of the standard versions, giving them a clear role where close-range observation and wider scene capture are the priority.

About the Zeiss Secacam 5 Wide-Angle

The ZEISS Secacam 5 Wide-Angle is designed for places where a conventional trail camera view can feel too narrow. Its defining advantage is the 100° wide-angle lens, which makes it particularly effective for close-range observation on bait sites, feeding areas, trail crossings and other confined locations where animals may appear suddenly and move across the frame at short distance. Instead of concentrating on a narrower corridor, this model records more of the immediate surroundings, which helps when the goal is to understand movement patterns rather than simply confirm presence.

The camera combines that broad view with a fast triggering time of < 0.35 ~ 0.45 seconds, helping it react quickly when game enters the detection zone. A CMOS sensor, photo capture and 1920x1080 video recording give it the flexibility to document both still moments and short sequences of movement, while the 940.00 nm infrared illumination supports discreet night use. For practical field deployment, the compact housing is easier to conceal in trees, brush or tighter mounting points, and the waterproof, fogproof and shockproof build is suited to unattended outdoor use.

Remote operation is central to how this model is used. Through the ZEISS Secacam app on Android and iOS, the camera fits naturally into a monitoring routine that reduces unnecessary visits to the site. That matters in hunting and wildlife management, because fewer disturbances can mean more natural animal behavior around the monitored area. With SD storage, LCD display and AA battery power, the Secacam 5 Wide-Angle stays straightforward to deploy while still offering the convenience expected from a modern connected trail camera.

About Zeiss

Carl Zeiss opened an optical and precision-mechanics workshop in Jena in 1846, laying the foundation for a company that became closely associated with precision optics. ZEISS is a German company headquartered in Oberkochen, Germany, and its sport-optics portfolio covers binoculars, riflescopes and spotting scopes for hunting and outdoor use. In this field, the brand is known for combining optical design with practical field features rather than treating mechanics and glass performance as separate disciplines.

Within hunting optics, ZEISS has developed recognizable technologies such as ZEISS T* lens coatings for sport-optics products and ZEISS LotuTec protective coatings used on hunting optics. Its range also includes advanced products such as Victory RF binoculars, which combine binocular optics with an integrated laser rangefinder and ballistic data connection through the ZEISS Hunting app. That background in optical engineering and field-oriented product design carries over into connected observation products such as the Secacam series.
