Zeiss Conquest HDX 10x42 Product description

  • 10x42 all-round format: The 10x magnification brings distant detail closer without moving into the bulk of larger binoculars, while the 42 mm objective size keeps the image bright enough for woodland, open-country and general outdoor observation.
  • HD optics with 90% light transmission: The optical system is designed to deliver bright, high-contrast viewing in difficult light, helping with earlier game recognition, clearer bird identification and more confident observation at dawn or dusk.
  • Roof prism design in a magnesium body: Schmidt/Pechan roof prisms keep the binocular slim and easy to carry, while the magnesium housing reduces weight and adds durability for regular field use.
  • LotuTec and fully multicoated lenses: Protective and anti-reflective coatings support clear viewing in rain, mist and changing light, while also making the outer lens surfaces easier to keep clean in everyday use.
  • Weather-sealed, nitrogen-filled construction: Waterproof, fogproof construction and a working temperature range of -20°C to +63°C help the binocular remain dependable across changing seasons and demanding outdoor conditions.

About the Zeiss Conquest HDX Series

The ZEISS Conquest HDX series was introduced in 2024 as a current all-round binocular family within ZEISS’s premium sports-optics range. The line covers 32 mm, 42 mm and 56 mm objective sizes, with 8x and 10x models across the range and a 15x option in the 56 mm class, giving the series broad appeal for hunting and outdoor observation. Its role in the lineup is to offer a versatile premium binocular that balances field-ready durability, strong low-light performance and practical handling rather than focusing on one narrow specialist task.

Across the series, ZEISS uses its HD optical concept together with T* lens coatings to support high contrast, strong color fidelity and efficient light transmission. The addition of LotuTec helps water shed from the outer lens surfaces more easily, which matters in wet weather and when moving between changing environments. Nitrogen-filled construction is part of the design philosophy as well, reflecting the series’ intended use in demanding outdoor conditions. In practice, the Conquest HDX family is aimed at users who want one binocular for hunting, birding and general nature observation, with a combination of compact roof-prism handling, robust construction and premium optical behavior.

About the Zeiss Conquest HDX 10x42

The Zeiss Conquest HDX 10x42 is the central all-round model in the series, combining 10x magnification with a 42 mm objective lens for a balance of reach, brightness and portability that suits both hunting binocular and bird watching binocular use. The 10x format gives more detail on distant animals, birds and terrain features than an 8x model, while the 42 mm front lenses keep the instrument manageable for day-long carry. With a 115.00 m/1000m field of view, it still retains enough width for scanning woodland edges, following moving subjects and searching open ground efficiently.

Its optical layout uses Schmidt/Pechan roof prisms, a 4.20 mm exit pupil and 90% light transmission, which together support a bright, usable image in mixed light and at the start or end of the day. The fully multicoated lenses help preserve contrast, while the close focus of 2.00 m is useful when observing nearby birds, insects or detail in vegetation. The diopter range of -4/+4 dpt and diopter adjustment on both eyepieces allow the binocular to be tuned carefully to the user’s eyesight.

Mechanically, this model is built around a magnesium housing with a single-hinge body, central focusing system and nitrogen-filled waterproof, fogproof construction. At 715.00 g and 150.00 mm in length, it remains substantial enough to feel steady in the hands without becoming cumbersome on longer outings. Tripod adaptability adds flexibility for prolonged observation from a fixed position, especially when studying distant subjects in open country.

About Zeiss

ZEISS began in 1846, when Carl Zeiss opened an optical and precision-mechanics workshop in Jena. Today, ZEISS is a German company headquartered in Oberkochen, Germany, and it remains closely associated with precision optics across multiple fields. In sports optics, the company develops binoculars, riflescopes and spotting scopes for hunting and outdoor use, with product families that include Victory RF, Victory HT, Conquest and Terra ED.

For this category, ZEISS is particularly known for optical coatings and lens technologies used to improve practical field performance. ZEISS T* is used in its sports-optics products to support image brightness and contrast, while LotuTec adds a protective outer-lens coating that helps maintain a clear view in wet or dirty conditions. That combination of long optical heritage and field-oriented design is central to why ZEISS binoculars are widely used for hunting and observation.
