Vomz Pilad PV 3-9x42 L

• 3-9x variable magnification: The zoom range covers close woodland shots and more deliberate shooting across open ground, so the scope adapts well to general hunting rifles without forcing a compromise toward only short or only longer distances.
• 42 mm objective lens: This objective size balances light-gathering ability with manageable overall size, helping maintain a bright image at dusk while keeping the riflescope practical for stalking and everyday field carry.
• Illuminated SFP reticle: The illuminated reticle stands out better against dark game or shaded backgrounds, while the second focal plane layout keeps the reticle visually consistent as magnification changes.
• 30 mm tube with capped turrets: The larger tube format gives a sturdy mounting platform, and capped adjustment turrets help protect zero from accidental movement during transport or rough handling in the field.
• Waterproof and shockproof construction: The scope is built for outdoor use on hunting rifles, with weather resistance and recoil durability that support reliable use in changing temperatures and demanding terrain.

About the Vomz Pilad PV Series

The Vomz Pilad PV series is VOMZ’s family of variable-power Pilad riflescopes, built for shooters who want one optic to cover changing distances and field conditions. Within the company’s sight range, the PV line sits as a practical hunting and sport-shooting option, combining straightforward mechanical design with the flexibility of zoom magnification. The series includes several configurations with different objective sizes and magnification ranges, allowing the same basic concept to serve anything from driven hunting to more deliberate shooting from a rest.

A defining trait of the range is its emphasis on multicoated optics, usable reticle layouts, and familiar 30 mm mounting compatibility on relevant models. In the Pilad PV concept, the goal is not complexity for its own sake, but a clear sight picture, dependable adjustment, and a format that remains easy to mount and handle on sporting rifles. Illuminated-reticle variants add better visibility in poor contrast, which is especially useful at dawn, dusk, or against dark backgrounds. Overall, the PV series is aimed at shooters who need a traditional riflescope layout with the flexibility of variable magnification and field-oriented durability.

About the Vomz Pilad PV 3-9x42 L

The Vomz Pilad PV 3-9x42 L is a classic 3-9x42 hunting riflescope built for general-purpose use, where one optic must handle both shorter shots in cover and more precise aiming at longer distances. At 3x, the scope offers a broader view for finding game quickly and tracking movement more naturally. At 9x, it gives the extra image scale needed for careful shot placement when the distance opens up. That makes it a sensible fit for stalking, stand hunting, and all-round sporting use.

The optical system uses multicoated lenses and a 42 mm objective, a combination that supports useful brightness without making the scope overly bulky. The listed 12.50 m/100m to 4.00 m/100m field of view reflects this dual role: wider at low power for awareness, narrower at high power for precision. A fixed 75.00 mm eye relief helps maintain a consistent shooting position, while the -3 / +3 diopter adjustment allows the eyepiece to be tuned to the shooter’s eyesight.

This model uses an illuminated second focal plane reticle, so the reticle appearance stays the same size throughout the zoom range. In practice, that keeps the aiming picture familiar as magnification changes, while illumination improves reticle visibility in dim light or against dark targets. The capped turrets with 10mm/100m - 0.10MIL clicks suit a hunting setup where adjustments are set deliberately and then protected from accidental movement. With a 30 mm tube, waterproof and shockproof construction, and an operating range of -40 °C / +50 °C, the PV 3-9x42 L is configured for regular field use in demanding weather.

About Vomz

VOMZ began operations in Vologda, Russia, on October 16, 1971, and remains headquartered there. The company manufactures optoelectronic products for both special-purpose and civilian applications, giving it a broad base in sighting and observation equipment rather than a narrow focus on a single product type. In the sporting market, VOMZ is known for producing Pilad-branded rifle scopes as well as optical, prism, and collimator sights.

That background is relevant to the Pilad riflescope line because it reflects a design approach centered on practical field use and mechanical durability. VOMZ states that its scopes are tested against recoil loads of 800 g, underlining their intended use on live-fire firearms rather than as purely recreational optics. The company is part of the Shvabe holding within the Rostec State Corporation, placing it within a larger Russian optical and industrial structure with experience in precision optical production.
