Element Optics Iris 3-9x40 Product description

  • Classic 3-9x hunting range: The 3-9x magnification span covers close woodland shots as well as longer opportunities across fields, making the scope easy to live with on a general-purpose hunting rifle.
  • 40 mm objective with fully multi-coated lenses: This combination helps maintain a bright, clear image in the first and last light periods when game is often most active.
  • Lightweight 1-inch design: At 416 g with a 25.4 mm tube, the scope keeps rifle handling quick and balanced while allowing low-profile mounting on traditional sporting rifles.
  • Capped, resettable turrets: The turrets stay protected from knocks and accidental movement in the field, while still allowing straightforward zeroing at the range.
  • Duplex SFP reticle: The simple second focal plane reticle stays familiar and uncluttered, helping fast sight acquisition on game without distracting the eye.

About the Element Optics Iris Series

The Element Optics Iris series is built as a straightforward hunting scope family for shooters who want practical magnification ranges, low mounting height, and uncomplicated operation in the field. Element Optics currently offers the series in 3-9x40 and 4-12x44 configurations, covering everything from driven hunts and stalking to hunting from blinds and other close-to-intermediate-range use. Across the range, the emphasis is on familiar proportions and dependable mechanics rather than oversized tactical features.

Both Iris models use a 1-inch main tube, second focal plane reticles, and an aircraft-grade one-piece tube construction. They also share fully multi-coated lenses, nitrogen purging, and weather-sealed construction for waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof performance. The series separates the two models by reticle purpose: the 3-9x40 uses a Duplex reticle for a traditional hunting sight picture, while the 4-12x44 uses a RAPTR-1S BDC reticle for shooters who want holdover references. Shared capped, resettable turrets keep the handling simple and protect the adjustments during transport and hard field use.

About the Element Optics Iris 3-9x40

The Element Optics Iris 3-9x40 is the more traditional model in the Iris line, pairing a 3-9x magnification range with a 40 mm objective lens for the kind of versatility that suits stalking rifles, rimfire setups, and general hunting optics use. At 3x, it gives a broad enough view for fast target pickup at shorter distances; at 9x, it provides the extra precision needed for careful shot placement when the range opens up. The 1-inch tube and compact 308 mm length also help keep the scope low over the bore and visually in proportion on classic sporting rifles.

This model uses a Duplex reticle in the second focal plane, which keeps the reticle appearance consistent throughout the zoom range. In practice, that gives the shooter a clean, familiar aiming point that remains easy to see against dark game and busy backgrounds. Because the reticle is non-illuminated, the sight picture stays uncluttered and the scope remains simple to operate in changing field conditions.

The mechanical layout is equally field-oriented. Capped, resettable turrets protect the adjustments from brush, knocks, and accidental movement, while the fixed 100 m parallax suits the distances at which this type of riflescope is most often used. Fully multi-coated lenses support image brightness and contrast, and the nitrogen-filled, waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof construction is designed for rifles that see regular outdoor use in variable weather.

About Element Optics

Element Optics AB is based in Mariestad, Sweden, and develops optics with a design team that includes members from Sweden, South Africa, and the United States. The company began work on its first riflescope, the Nexus, in 2018, and has since focused on building riflescopes, electro-optics, and shooting accessories for practical field and range use. Its products are aimed at sporting, hunting, and competition shooting with both airguns and firearms.

Within the riflescope market, Element Optics is known for families such as Helix, Titan, Nexus, Theos, and Iris, covering everything from straightforward hunting optics to more advanced long-range configurations. The wider range also includes binoculars and rangefinders, reflecting a broader focus on shooting and observation equipment rather than riflescopes alone.
