Celestron Granite ED 9x33 Details

A fantastic versatile, mid-sized and lightweight binocular that can be used every day in a variety of applications, but which is also easy to pack away and perfect to take along on holiday and especially on a travel or wildlife adventure like a safari.
The 9x magnification offers a good compromise between the wide views and low light capability that you would get with a 8x model, whilst at the same time provides you with a little more reach and almost as much image detail as that which you get with a 10x binocular.
Therefore in wider open areas where light is at least fair, like an average day at the coast, in the hills or out on the plains of the Serengeti these are an ideal choice for viewing both the big five as well as the birds.
For non eyeglass wearers, the 14.1mm of eye relief is more than adequate however for those who do wear glasses whilst using their binoculars, this model may not be the ideal choice. If this is a concern, you may be better with the 17mm that you get on the 8x42 model.

Description of Celestron Granite ED Binoculars

The pinnacle of Celestron binoculars is definitely Granite ED series. These binoculars received The Cornell Lab of Ornithology award and award for the best Binoculars of 2013 by Best Binoculars Review. They are suitable for bird watching, hunting, traveling, wildlife, nature and astronomy viewing and offer ultra-high performance, perfect even for professionals. Incredible performance is a result of an ED glass, fully multi-coatings of lenses, phase correction, with other features such as open-bridge design for comfortable handling and 100% waterproof and fog-proof construction for incredible protection and clear viewing. Granite ED also comes with a harness strap, helping you with comfortable portability.

Basic Features

Amazing Celestron Granite ED offers great ergonomic and aesthetic design. They are made out of ultra-light magnesium alloy that helps to decrease the weight and makes them incredibly light and fatigue free even when carrying them for longer periods of time. Beautiful aesthetic design and shape wrapped in black rubber armouring which is incredibly thick and able to protect them against impacts, makes them a real pleasure to use. The surface is rugged enough to prevent sudden slip out of your hands with the help of an open-bridge. This very welcomed feature allows you to safely and firmly grip the binoculars around the barrels and helps you to carry them with one hand when walking. Granite ED is also well protected with tight seals making them impervious to moisture, dust and other solid particles. You will never have to worry about exposing them to extreme weather conditions. With the help of nitrogen gas that is purged inside the construction, the clear view will never be compromised when facing sudden temperature changes, that makes the occurrence of condensation on the inner sides of the lenses.

Optical Properties

The Granite ED glass crafted in Japan, offers Extra-low dispersion ability for sharp images free of major distortion such as chromatic aberration and reflections. With the help of fully multi-coatings, these feature enhance light transmission rate, making images incredibly bright and also rich in contrast with accurate color reproduction. Superior image quality is also a result of phase coated prisms and high-grade BaK-4 prisms which offer razor sharp images even in the dim light. For focusing adjustments, the Granite ED offers smooth and quick central focusing knob, again, beautifully designed and rubberized for non-slip rotations with the help of the right-eye diopter. Granite ED eyepieces are rubberized and multi-positioned for ideal eye-relief for eyeglass wearers.
