Bresser Pirsch ED 8x34 Binoculars Product description

  • ED glass optics: The extra-low-dispersion glass helps reduce color fringing and keeps fine detail cleaner, which is especially useful when watching birds, scanning woodland edges, or picking out animals against bright backgrounds.
  • 8x34 configuration: This format balances reach, steadiness, and portability, giving a useful 8x view in a lighter body that is easy to carry for long walks, travel, and general outdoor observation.
  • Dielectric, phase-coated roof prisms: These coatings improve contrast, brightness, and image fidelity, so the binoculars deliver a more natural view with better separation of detail in difficult light.
  • Waterproof, argon-purged housing: The sealed construction helps the binoculars cope with rain, damp air, and temperature changes while reducing internal fogging during field use.
  • Long eye relief with TwistUp eyecups: The generous 17.15 mm eye relief and adjustable eyecups make it easier to see the full field of view comfortably, including for many eyeglass wearers.

About the Bresser Pirsch Series

The Bresser Pirsch series is built as an all-round binocular family for travel, hiking, and hunting, covering the needs of users who want compact roof-prism handling without giving up practical field performance. Across the range, the design focuses on a combination of portability, weather resistance, and viewing comfort, which makes the series suitable for everything from casual wildlife observation to longer days outdoors.

A defining trait of the line is its use of BaK-4 roof prisms, phase-coated prisms, and fully multi-coated lenses, all aimed at maintaining contrast and image clarity in varied light. The series is also described as waterproof and gas-purged, helping it cope with wet weather and rapid temperature changes. Rubberized housings and adjustable eyecups support secure handling and comfortable viewing, including for eyeglass wearers. Within the family, the Pirsch ED models add extra-low-dispersion glass, dielectric prism coating, and argon purging, giving them a stronger emphasis on color fidelity and image refinement for demanding outdoor use.

About the Bresser Pirsch ED 8x34 Binoculars

The Bresser Pirsch ED 8x34 Binoculars are aimed at users who want a compact binocular for mixed outdoor use, where low weight matters but image quality still needs to stay convincing. The 8x magnification gives enough reach for birding, hiking, and general wildlife observation while remaining easy to hold steadily by hand. Paired with a 34.00 mm objective lens, it keeps the binocular slimmer and easier to pack than a full-size 42 mm model, which is a real advantage on long walks or when travelling light.

What sets this model apart within the Pirsch range is the use of ED glass together with dielectric, phase-coated roof prisms. In practice, that means cleaner edges around high-contrast subjects, better color neutrality, and stronger contrast when observing fine plumage, branches, or distant terrain. The 121.98 m/1000m field of view gives a broad enough image for tracking moving subjects, while the 3.50 m close focus keeps the binocular useful for nearby observation as well.

The handling is equally field-oriented. A central focusing system allows quick adjustment, the open-bridge body is easy to grip securely, and the metal-based construction gives the binocular a solid feel without pushing weight too high. With 17.15 mm eye relief, right-eye diopter adjustment, waterproof construction, and argon filling, this model is well suited to changing weather and extended use by both eyeglass and non-eyeglass wearers.

About Bresser

Bresser began in 1957, when Josef Bresser founded BRESSER Optik in Germany. The company developed from an optics specialist into a broader maker of observation equipment, with product areas that include binoculars, telescopes, microscopes, and outdoor optics. Its headquarters are in Rhede, Germany, and the brand remains closely associated with accessible optical equipment for nature observation, field use, and hobby astronomy.

Over time, Bresser expanded both its ownership structure and product range. In 1999, Rolf Bresser sold the company to Meade Instruments Corp., and in 2009, Rolf Bresser, Jinghua Precision Optics, and managing director Helmut Ebbert acquired all shares of Bresser GmbH. The company later broadened its outdoor line with products such as trail cameras and rangefinders. In the binocular category, Bresser is known for offering practical roof-prism and field-oriented designs that combine modern coatings, weather protection, and user-friendly handling.

Excellent binoculars

Lightweight and compact, well balanced and they look pretty robust.
Optics surprisingly good, on par with older Zeiss that I own.
Focus mechanism takes a bit more than 1,5 turn, wich allows for a finer adjusting but is slower than other binoculars.
Lens covers look a little cheap but then for the price you can't ask much more.
Let's see in the long term, but for the moment it's an excellent buy.
