Recknagel ATV Ring-Type Front Sight Base without Front Sight Hood

• Ring-type barrel fit: The 15.0 mm banded design wraps around the barrel for a secure front-sight mounting point without requiring a bulky base, making it suitable for clean, traditional rifle builds.
• ATV interchangeable system: As part of Recknagel’s ATV front-sight platform, this base accepts replaceable front sights, so the rifle can be tuned for different sight pictures or heights without changing the whole assembly.
• Low-profile hunting setup: Supplied without a front sight hood, this version keeps the profile simple and unobtrusive, which suits rifles where an open sight picture and reduced bulk are preferred.
• Height-adjustable concept: The ATV system is designed so front-sight height can be adjusted, helping the gunsmith or rifle owner regulate point of impact more precisely when pairing the front sight with a rear sight.
• German-made steel component: Made in Germany by Recknagel, this front sight base is built for the consistent fit and machining quality expected in hunting rifle sight components.

About the ATV Series

Recknagel ATV front-sight components are built as a modular open-sight system for hunting rifles that need a practical, adaptable front-sight arrangement rather than a fixed one-piece solution. The defining idea behind the series is interchangeability: the base remains on the rifle while the front sight itself can be selected to suit the intended sight picture, preferred visibility, or required height. That makes the ATV family useful both for new rifle builds and for refurbishing traditional hunting rifles where regulation and component choice matter.

Within Recknagel’s sight lineup, the ATV series sits alongside classic silver-bead and fiber-optic options, but stands out for its ability to combine different front-sight styles with compatible saddles and banded bases. The system is intended primarily for hunting applications, where robust mechanical simplicity, a clear sight picture, and the ability to tailor sight height are more important than unnecessary complexity. In practice, ATV parts give gunsmiths and rifle owners a flexible way to configure open sights while keeping the installation neat, durable, and consistent with the lines of a sporting rifle.

About the Recknagel ATV Ring-Type Front Sight Base without Front Sight Hood

The Recknagel ATV Ring-Type Front Sight Base without Front Sight Hood is a barrel-band style base intended for rifles that use a traditional front sight rather than an optic-only setup. Its main role is straightforward but important: it provides the mounting foundation for a compatible ATV interchangeable front sight, allowing the rifle to be set up with the sight type and height that best match the rear sight and the intended shooting distance. Because the front sight itself is not fixed permanently into one non-adjustable pattern, the system is more adaptable than many conventional soldered or integral arrangements.

This version is sized for a 15.0 mm barrel diameter and uses a ring-type construction, which is especially suitable where a clean, classic installation is preferred. The absence of a front sight hood keeps the profile more open and compact, which can be desirable on lightweight hunting rifles or on builds where the shooter prefers an unobstructed view around the front sight. As part of Recknagel’s ATV concept, the base supports a setup in which front-sight height can be regulated, helping align the rifle more precisely with the rear sight. For practical field use, that means easier correction of point of impact and more freedom to choose between different front-sight styles without replacing the entire base. The result is a compact rifle front-sight component focused on fit, serviceability, and traditional hunting-rifle function.

About Recknagel

Recknagel is a German manufacturer with roots going back to 1867, when Adolf Recknagel began producing firearm sights in Albrechts near Suhl, Thuringia. The company is known for its work in firearm sighting systems, riflescope mounts, and hunting accessories, with a product range that also includes Picatinny rails, triggers, safeties, and silencers. This long specialization in metal firearm components is especially relevant in products such as front sights and mounting parts, where precise machining and dependable fit are essential.

Over time, Recknagel expanded from traditional hunting products into modern mounting solutions, including the launch of the ERATAC tactical line in 2010. The company relocated from Schweinfurt to Bergrheinfeld in 2006, and in 2022 it was acquired by Dr. Moritz Fehrer. Across both classic and modern product lines, Recknagel remains closely associated with German-made components for hunting and shooting applications.
