Primary Arms is an American company that is constantly gaining in popularity for two major reasons – offering products of high quality at an affordable price and implementing their own, custom reticles in their optical devices. One of the most popular reticles is ACSS with holdovers for bullet drop, designed for CQB.
In 2019, Primary Arms decided to divide their optics in four tiers, Classic (CLx), Silver (SLx), Gold (GLx), and Platinum (PLx). They chose to do this because their customers had difficulties determining which riflescope belongs to which price class. Primary Arms’ products are now much more organized, which makes work easier for both customers and retailers.
‘Silver’ is Primary Arms’ mid-range series of optics, the core of their line-up. As regards price, it is positioned above ‘Classic’ and below the ‘Gold’ series. In this series, Primary Arms has riflescopes, prism scopes and magnifiers available. Riflescopes are of the SFP and FFP type, and there are various lens diameters at disposal. The optics in this tier are priced from 250 € to 600 €. All of them are manufactured in China. They are backed by Primary Arms’ 3 years warranty. Most of the riflescopes in this series can be purchased with Primary Arms’ famous ACSS reticle (created by Dimitri Mikroulis).
Primary Arms SLX3.5 4-14x44 FFP is one of the FFP scopes from the Silver series. It has been designed for long range tactical shooting, allowing shooters to shoot at a 100-yard mark, 300 yards or as far as 1,000 yards. It offers 3.5x zoom with a 4x minimum magnification.
It has an aluminum black matte one-piece housing with a very interesting shape. The main tube is 30 mm, there is no mounting rail underneath it. This means that for the mounting on the rifle the user needs the right scope rings/scope mount to fit the tube's diameter.
This is a first focal plane riflescope (FFP scope), meaning that the scope reticle is located in front of the magnification lenses. Because of that the reticle size changes with magnification. The mil-dot reticle is partially illuminated and has 6 intensity levels. There is an off switch between each illumination level. The illumination turret is in front of the magnification ring. Because of that a small mounting space is left in between the illumination turret and other turrets. The battery used is CR2032.
There are 4 different reticles to choose from:
Reticles that include horseshoe and chevron have illumination limited to these two parts.
This PA scope features exposed tactical turrets, there is no Zero-lock mechanism. The multi-turn turrets have a turn indicator. The turrets track correctly through their MIL adjustment range. The parallax adjustment knob is mounted on the left side of the scope. The parallax can be set anywhere between 10 yards and infinity. The clicks on the riflescope are in milliradians (1 click = 0.1 MIL) or MOA (1 click = ¼ MOA. The reticle has a true MIL/MIL (or MOA/MOA) configuration.
The riflescope comes with a rubber bikini cover. The price point is set at around 300 €.
The product comes with 3 years of warranty. You can read more about the warranty policy here.
