Pachmayr 500B Presentation Rifle Pad

• Thin .40” profile: keeps the rifle’s length of pull change modest while still adding a softer contact surface than a hard factory buttplate.
• Basketweave face texture: provides a secure shoulder contact area that helps the rifle stay planted during mounting and firing, especially in field positions.
• Field-style shape: promotes quick, smooth shouldering without the pad catching on clothing, which is useful on hunting rifles carried and mounted in a hurry.
• Rubber construction: adds grip and a more forgiving feel at the shoulder than metal or plastic buttplates, improving comfort on lighter-recoiling rifles.
• Grind-to-fit design: allows the pad to be matched to the stock’s outline for a cleaner installation on a wide range of rifle stocks.

About the Pachmayr Accessories Series

Pachmayr Accessories covers a broad range of firearm components built around practical handling improvements rather than cosmetic add-ons. The series includes recoil pads, handgun and revolver grips, and rifle grips, giving shooters options for better control, improved comfort, and a more secure interface with the firearm. Within the lineup, recoil pads remain one of the most established categories, reflecting Pachmayr’s long history in this part of the shooting market since the company introduced its first recoil pad in 1949.

Across the series, the design approach is straightforward: durable materials, shapes that suit real field use, and textures chosen for consistent grip. In rifle accessories, that means pads and grips intended for hunting rifles, shotguns, and utility firearms where dependable mounting and control matter more than unnecessary bulk. The range also shows the brand’s breadth, from modern AR-style grips to traditional recoil pads for classic sporting rifles. In that context, Pachmayr Accessories sits as a practical, established family of shooting accessories for users who want proven fit, handling, and recoil-management solutions.

About the Pachmayr 500B Presentation Rifle Pad

The Pachmayr 500B Presentation Rifle Pad is a traditional rifle recoil pad made for shooters replacing a hard plastic or metal buttplate with something that is more comfortable and more secure on the shoulder. Its .40” thickness keeps the pad relatively slim, which is important on rifles where preserving familiar stock dimensions matters. Rather than dramatically altering the rifle’s feel, it adds a modest cushioning layer and a grippier shoulder surface.

The pad uses a basketweave face texture, which gives the contact surface more purchase during mounting and recoil. In practice, that helps the butt stay settled against clothing and reduces the slick feel often associated with polished buttplates. The field-style shape also matters: it is intended to mount quickly and cleanly, so the rifle comes to the shoulder without excessive drag. That makes the 500B well suited to sporting and hunting rifles carried in the field, where fast presentation is often more important than maximum recoil absorption.

Its rubber construction and grind-to-fit format make it a flexible choice for stock work. This design allows the pad to be fitted to the stock’s contours for a neater finished profile. At 170.00 g, it adds useful shoulder comfort and grip without turning the rear of the rifle into a bulky assembly. Overall, the 500B is aimed at moderate to light recoil applications where a classic appearance, quick handling, and a more forgiving shoulder contact point are the main priorities.

About Pachmayr

Pachmayr was founded by Frank Pachmayr in 1929 and built its reputation around firearm accessories that improve handling and shooting comfort. The company introduced its first recoil pad in 1949, establishing a product category that remains closely associated with the brand. Pachmayr later brought its rubber handgun grips to market in the early 1960s, expanding into another core area of expertise.

Today, the brand is known for handgun grips, recoil pads, gunsmithing tools, and shooting accessories. Its product range spans traditional sporting applications and modern firearm platforms, with well-known grip families such as Diamond Pro, G10, Renegade, and American Legend. Pachmayr also uses Decelerator material in recoil-reducing products, reflecting its long focus on shooter comfort and control. The brand joined Lyman in 1996, and its manufacturing plant relocated to Prescott Valley, Arizona, in 2014.
