Morakniv Basic 546 (black/military green)

• Swedish stainless steel blade: The 91.00 mm blade resists moisture better than carbon steel, making the knife easier to maintain for hunting, camp tasks, and general outdoor use.
• 2.00 mm fixed-blade construction: A straightforward one-piece build gives the knife the stiffness and control needed for everyday cutting jobs without adding unnecessary bulk.
• Rubber handle: The grippy handle helps maintain secure control in wet, cold, or dirty conditions, which is especially useful when working outdoors for longer periods.
• Polymer sheath with carrying clip: The classical sheath protects the blade in transport and keeps the knife close at hand on a belt or pocket for quick access in the field.
• Lightweight 110.00 g format: With an overall length of 206.00 mm, the knife is large enough for practical all-round work while remaining easy to carry as a daily outdoor tool.

About the Basic Series

Morakniv Basic Series knives are designed as practical working tools with a clear focus on simple construction, dependable grip, and easy everyday carry. Within the Morakniv lineup, the Basic family sits as a straightforward utility-oriented range for users who need a knife for repeated daily tasks rather than a specialized display piece. That makes the series relevant not only for trade and workshop use, but also for outdoor users who value a robust fixed blade for camp chores, food prep, light woodwork, and general field use.

A typical Basic Series knife combines a Scandinavian-style working blade profile with an ergonomic polymer-based handle and a practical sheath system. The design philosophy is centered on control, durability, and low maintenance, with blade options in stainless or carbon steel depending on the model. In use, that translates into predictable cutting behavior, easy sharpening, and a handle shape that remains comfortable through repetitive work. The series is known for offering functional Swedish-made knives that prioritize utility, secure handling, and uncomplicated ownership.

About the Morakniv Basic 546 (black/military green)

The Morakniv Basic 546 is an all-round fixed-blade knife built around a 91.00 mm straight blade and a compact format that suits both outdoor and hunting-related support tasks. It is not oversized, which makes it easier to control for precise cutting, but it still offers enough edge length for common camp and field jobs such as trimming cord, preparing kindling, opening packaging, or handling light game-processing work. The fixed-blade layout also removes the complexity of moving parts, giving the knife a more direct, ready-to-use feel whenever it is drawn from the sheath.

A key advantage of this model is its Swedish stainless steel blade. In practical use, stainless steel is a sensible choice for users who work in damp weather, carry a knife on long days outdoors, or simply want less maintenance between uses. The 2.00 mm blade thickness keeps the knife nimble and easy to guide through controlled cuts, while the one-piece construction supports a solid, confidence-inspiring feel in hand.

The rubber handle is equally important to the knife’s usability. It improves grip security when hands are wet, cold, or dirty, which matters more in real field conditions than in dry indoor handling. At 110.00 g, the knife remains light enough for routine belt carry, and the polymer sheath with carrying clip makes storage and access simple during everyday outdoor use.

About Morakniv

Morakniv traces its roots to 1891, when Frost-Erik Erson established a factory in Östnor, Mora, Sweden. The company still manufactures its knives in Östnor, and that continuity is a central part of its identity. Morakniv focuses on knives for outdoor use, hunting, bushcraft, crafts, woodcarving, and professional work, which gives the brand a broad reputation for practical cutting tools rather than narrowly specialized products.

Its range includes well-known lines such as Bushcraft and Companion, alongside hunting and craft knives that emphasize functional design and reliable materials. Morakniv is also closely associated with the use of Swedish stainless steel and carbon steel, reflecting the company’s long-standing preference for steels that are easy to sharpen and suited to real working use. Over time, the business evolved through the 2005 consolidation of Frosts under KJ Eriksson AB, with Morakniv registered as the official brand in 2009.
