Meprolight Tru-Dot for Smith & Wesson 1911

• Self-Illuminated Tritium: The Tru-Dot sight set stays visible in low light and at night without batteries, so the pistol remains ready for defensive, duty, or carry use at any hour.
• Three-Dot Sight Picture: A fixed 3-dot alignment system gives a familiar reference in daylight and darkness, helping the shooter pick up the sights quickly and keep the same visual pattern across changing light conditions.
• Steel Construction: The steel body provides the durability expected from a hard-use handgun sight set, with the strength to handle repeated slide cycling and everyday carry wear.
• Fixed Sight Design: With a fixed front and rear arrangement, this set favors dependable zero retention and straightforward handling over added adjustment complexity.
• Made for Smith & Wesson 1911 Pistols: Built as a dedicated replacement sight set for compatible Smith & Wesson 1911 handguns, it offers a direct upgrade path for shooters who want better low-light visibility than standard factory sights.

About the Meprolight Tru-Dot Series

Meprolight Tru-Dot is the company’s established line of self-illuminated handgun sights for shooters who want a simple, always-available aiming reference. In Meprolight’s handgun range, the series covers fixed, adjustable, and suppressor-height configurations, with models made for pistols from multiple manufacturers. That broad fitment makes Tru-Dot a practical family for defensive carry, service pistols, and general range use where a familiar iron-sight picture still matters.

A defining feature of the series is its tritium-powered illumination, which keeps the aiming dots visible in low-light and nighttime conditions without switches or batteries. The Tru-Dot sight picture uses three aiming dots intended to remain consistent from daylight to darkness, reducing the need to adapt to a different visual reference as light fades. Across the range, the sights are designed as replacement front and rear units for compatible handguns, and selected models are offered with different dot color combinations or added adjustment capability. The result is a pistol sight family centered on durability, fast alignment, and uncomplicated day-and-night use.

About the Meprolight Tru-Dot for Smith & Wesson 1911

The Meprolight Tru-Dot for Smith & Wesson 1911 is a dedicated tritium night sight set for shooters who want a robust iron-sight upgrade on a classic single-action pistol platform. Its role is straightforward: provide a clear, repeatable sight picture in bright light, dim interiors, and nighttime conditions without adding electronics, controls, or battery dependence. For a defensive or carry-oriented Smith & Wesson 1911, that matters because the sight remains ready whenever the pistol is drawn.

This model uses a fixed 3-dot alignment with green tritium, giving the shooter one consistent visual reference across changing light. In practical use, that helps speed up front-sight acquisition while keeping the rear sight easy to index under stress. The square rear sight supports a conventional sight picture that many 1911 users already know well, so the transition from factory sights is intuitive rather than disruptive.

Its steel construction is equally important. On a reciprocating-slide handgun, steel sights are valued for resisting impact, holster wear, and long-term use better than lighter-duty alternatives. The black finish keeps the overall look subdued, while the self-illuminated design avoids the maintenance demands of battery-powered systems. Combined with the fixed adjustment layout, this makes the sight set a sensible choice for users who prioritize reliability, low-light visibility, and a familiar iron-sight presentation on a working 1911.

About Meprolight

Meprolight was founded in 1990 as a supplier of sights and battle optics to the Israel Defense Forces. Based in Or Akiva, Israel, the company develops and manufactures optical and electro-optical sighting systems for military, law-enforcement, and civilian users. Its portfolio covers conventional sights, tritium night sights, reflex optics, magnified optics, night-vision systems, thermal devices, and related sighting solutions for pistols, rifles, shotguns, and carbines.

That background is especially relevant in the handgun-sight category, where Meprolight is known for durable self-illuminated sighting systems built around tritium technology. As a division of SK Group, the company combines small-arms sighting experience with broader electro-optical expertise, which helps explain its long-standing focus on practical, service-oriented designs rather than purely competition-driven products.
