Meopta MeoPro R5 4-20x44

• 5x zoom range: The 4-20x magnification span covers everything from shorter-range target work to careful shot placement at extended distance, so one riflescope can serve both hunting and range use.
• 44 mm objective with 89% light transmission: This combination helps maintain a bright, usable sight picture in poor light while keeping the scope slimmer and lighter than larger-objective long-range models.
• Second focal plane reticle: The reticle keeps the same visual size throughout the zoom range, which many hunters and sporting shooters prefer because the aiming point stays fine and uncluttered at higher magnification.
• Parallax adjustment from 9.14 m to infinity: Close-focus capability makes the scope practical not only for centerfire rifles, but also for rimfire and air rifle setups where short-range precision matters.
• 1-inch nitrogen-filled tube: The 25.4 mm tube keeps mounting straightforward and overall weight moderate, while the waterproof, fogproof and shockproof construction supports reliable field use in changing weather.

About the Meopta MeoPro Series

The Meopta MeoPro series was introduced in 2010 as Meopta’s line of 1-inch-tube sporting riflescopes, aimed at shooters who wanted strong optical performance in a lighter, more traditional hunting format. Within Meopta’s riflescope range, the series sits as a practical bridge between basic hunting optics and the company’s more specialized premium models, combining straightforward handling with the optical standards the brand is known for.

A defining part of the series is its use of MeoBright 550 ion-assisted lens coatings, developed to improve light transmission and preserve contrast in difficult light. The original MeoPro concept also emphasized dependable mechanics, including MeoTrak II positive-click adjustments for repeatable zeroing and correction. Some variants were offered with the MMD reticle, which uses milliradian references and holdover markings for shooters who need more precise aiming at longer distances. Overall, the MeoPro family is built around clear optics, manageable weight, and familiar sporting proportions that suit hunting rifles, rimfire setups, and general-purpose field shooting.

About the Meopta MeoPro R5 4-20x44

The Meopta MeoPro R5 4-20x44 is a versatile riflescope built for shooters who need one optic to cover both general hunting and more deliberate longer-range work. Its 4-20x magnification range gives a useful spread: the lower end remains practical for scanning and shorter shots, while the upper end provides the image scale needed for precise aiming on small targets or distant game. Paired with a 44.00 mm objective, the scope balances light-gathering ability with a more compact front profile than larger 50 mm or 56 mm designs.

The optical layout is supported by 89% light transmission, helping preserve image brightness in the first and last light periods when hunting optics are often used hardest. A second focal plane reticle keeps the reticle visually consistent across the zoom range, which is especially useful for shooters who prefer a fine aiming point at higher magnification rather than a reticle that appears to grow thicker as power increases. The fast-focus eyepiece and -2 / +2 dpt diopter range allow quick adjustment to the shooter’s eye, making the image easier to sharpen before taking a shot.

Mechanically, this model is set up for practical field use. Capped turrets protect the adjustments from accidental movement while carrying the rifle, and the 1/4 MOA click value gives familiar, precise correction for zeroing. The parallax adjustment from 9.14 m to infinity is especially useful on rimfire rifles and air rifles as well as centerfire hunting rifles, because it allows the image and reticle to stay properly aligned even at short distances. With its 25.4 mm tube, 610.00 g weight, nitrogen filling, and waterproof, fogproof, shockproof construction, the scope is designed to stay manageable on the rifle and dependable in changing weather.

About Meopta

Meopta traces its roots to Optikotechna, founded in Přerov, Czechoslovakia, in 1933. After World War II, the company was nationalized and renamed Meopta, and it remains headquartered in Přerov, Czech Republic. The company develops and manufactures optical, opto-mechanical, and optoelectronic products, with long experience across both civilian and professional applications.

In sports optics, Meopta is known for building riflescopes, binoculars, and spotting scopes, including the well-established MeoStar line. Its product development has also produced proprietary technologies such as MeoBright antireflective coatings and MeoDrop hydrophobic lens protection, both relevant to field optics where transmission, contrast, and resistance to water and dirt matter. Meopta resumed riflescope production in 1988, reinforcing its position as a European optics manufacturer with in-house expertise in both optical performance and mechanical construction.
