Kite Optics Ursus 10x42 Product description

  • 10x42 configuration: The combination of 10x magnification and a 42 mm objective lens gives this binocular the reach needed for open-country wildlife observation while keeping brightness and handling balanced for everyday field use.
  • Roof prism design: The Schmidt/Pechan roof prism layout keeps the binocular slim and easy to carry, making it practical for long walks, travel, and fast deployment from a harness or jacket pocket.
  • Close focus to 2.40 m: A short minimum focus distance helps when moving from distant subjects to nearby detail, which is useful for birdwatching, woodland observation, and general nature use.
  • Waterproof, nitrogen-filled housing: The sealed body resists wet weather and internal fogging, so the binocular remains dependable when temperature changes, rain, or damp morning conditions would challenge less protected optics.
  • Central focus with right-eye diopter: The straightforward focusing layout allows quick sharpening of the image, while the -3.0 / +3.0 dpt diopter adjustment helps fine-tune the view to the user’s eyesight.

About the Kite Optics Ursus Series

The Kite Optics Ursus series sits as the brand’s entry model in professional roof-prism binoculars, built for users who want dependable field optics in a straightforward, practical format. The series is designed for everyday use, covering common outdoor applications such as birdwatching, wildlife observation, hiking, and general nature study without moving into oversized or highly specialized designs.

A defining feature of the Ursus family is its short-hinge construction combined with a fully rubber-armored chassis. This gives the binoculars a secure grip and a compact feel in the hand, while also helping them cope with regular outdoor wear. The series is waterproof and nitrogen-filled, which supports reliable use in wet weather and helps prevent internal fogging when conditions change quickly. Kite also equips the range with four-stage metal eyecups covered in soft rubber, improving comfort and making the binoculars easier to set up for different users, including many eyeglass wearers. Across the lineup, the Ursus models use Kite MHR coating and are offered in practical configurations including 8x32, 8x42, 10x42, and 10x50.

About the Kite Optics Ursus 10x42

The Kite Optics Ursus 10x42 is the most versatile long-view option in the middle of the Ursus range, combining 10x magnification with a 42 mm objective for users who want more reach than an 8x binocular without stepping up to the extra size of a 10x50. That makes it especially well suited to open-field birdwatching, general hunting optics use, and wildlife observation where detail at longer distances matters. The 113.75 m/1000m field of view remains wide enough to track moving subjects with confidence, while the 4.20 mm exit pupil keeps the image comfortable and usable through changing daylight conditions.

Its roof prism Schmidt/Pechan system and single-hinge body keep the binocular compact and easy to carry, and at 730.00 g it stays manageable for full-day use. The fully multicoated lenses support contrast and image clarity, helping fine detail stand out in feathers, fur, or distant terrain. A central focusing system allows quick adjustment when switching between near and far subjects, and the 2.40 m close focus adds flexibility for observing nearby detail. With 15.10 mm eye relief and a right-eyepiece diopter adjustment, the Ursus 10x42 is easy to tailor to individual vision. Its waterproof, fogproof, nitrogen-filled construction and broad - 25°C / + 55°C operating range make it a practical binocular for regular outdoor use across seasons.

Hello, I am having a very difficult time deciding between the Kite Optics Ursus 10x42 and the 8x42. The 8x42 has a longer field of view than the 10x42 and, the 8x42 is easier to steady. The binoculars would come in handy for me when observing animals in the woods and observing in the high mountains. I would be very happy to get practical advice and how much difference it really makes. Thank you and goodbye, Žiga

Hvala in Lep pozdeav, Žiga

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your question.

Differences are evident, especially with regard to the environment and the intended use. For dynamic observation and forest observation we recommend the 8x42 configuration. However, for high mountain and slightly more static observing we would recommend a 10x42 configuration.

Lep pozdrav
