HI VIZ LiteWave Front Sight, Ruger American Pistol

• LiteWave exoskeleton design: The steel exoskeleton exposes more of the fiber-optic rod to ambient light while shielding it from impact, giving a brighter front sight that still stands up to regular carry and range use.
• Interchangeable LitePipes: The front sight accepts replaceable LitePipes, so the sight picture can be tuned to different backgrounds and lighting conditions instead of being locked into one color choice.
• Factory-style fixed front sight: A fixed front sight keeps the setup simple and durable, making it well suited to defensive pistols and general shooting where fast alignment matters more than adjustment controls.
• All-steel construction: Steel construction gives the sight the rigidity needed for repeated holstering, recoil, and everyday handling, helping it maintain a consistent point of aim over time.
• Fit for Ruger American pistols: Designed for full-size and compact Ruger American pistols, this front sight offers a straightforward upgrade for shooters who want a more visible aiming reference than a plain factory blade.

About the Hi Viz LITEWAVE Series

Hi Viz LITEWAVE is a fiber-optic sight family introduced in November 2014 and built around a practical idea: make iron sights brighter, more durable, and easier to adapt to different shooting conditions. The series is intended for a wide span of users, from recreational shooters and training environments to hunting, competition, and general field use. A defining feature is the diagonal-wave exoskeleton, which leaves more of the LitePipe exposed to ambient light while still protecting it from knocks and abrasion.

Across the series, interchangeable LitePipes let the shooter change sight color to suit the target, background, or available light. That flexibility is useful on handguns and rifles alike, especially when a front sight needs to stay easy to pick up against dark berms, bright steel, or mixed outdoor terrain. LITEWAVE models are also designed to remain holster-friendly, so the added visibility does not come at the cost of snag-prone bulk. In the HiViz lineup, the series sits as a durable, highly visible iron-sight option for shooters who want a brighter sight picture without moving to an electronic optic.

About the HI VIZ LiteWave Front Sight, Ruger American Pistol

The HI VIZ LiteWave Front Sight for Ruger American Pistol is a dedicated front-sight upgrade for full-size and compact Ruger American pistols. Its main advantage is a brighter, easier-to-acquire front aiming point than a conventional black blade, which helps the eye find the front sight faster during presentation, target transitions, and close-to-medium-range handgun work. For defensive practice, range shooting, and field carry, that clearer front reference can make sight alignment more immediate and less fatiguing in changing light.

This model uses the LiteWave fiber-optic system with an exoskeleton frame that both protects the rod and allows it to gather light efficiently. In practical use, that means the front dot stands out more clearly in daylight and remains easier to track when the target or background is visually busy. The sight is also built with interchangeable LitePipes, and the Ruger American front configuration is supplied with green, red, and white options. That lets the shooter choose the color that gives the cleanest contrast for indoor lanes, outdoor bays, or natural terrain.

All-steel construction supports long-term durability, especially on a carry or training pistol that sees repeated holster work and recoil. The sight is a fixed front design, which keeps the setup simple and robust while preserving the straightforward handling expected from a practical handgun sight. For shooters who want a more visible front sight without adding electronics or changing the pistol’s basic manual of arms, this LiteWave model is a focused and useful upgrade.

About HiViz

HiViz began in 1996 with a single shooting-related product and grew into a specialist maker of sights and accessories for handguns, shotguns, and rifles. The company is based in Laramie, Wyoming, United States, and is particularly known for highly visible sighting systems built around fiber-optic and tritium-assisted designs. Its product range also includes recoil pads and other shooting accessories, but sights remain the core of the brand.

A key part of the company’s identity is the LitePipe concept: removable, reusable fiber-optic elements that allow practical replacement and color changes. HiViz has applied that idea across several sight families, including LITEWAVE, TriViz, and CompSight. In the handgun-sight category, the brand has built its reputation on making iron sights that are easier to see quickly, while keeping the construction durable enough for regular range work, field use, and carry-oriented applications.
