About the Vantage HD Series

The Vantage HD series is Hawke's value-focused binocular range, built around the System H2 optical platform and offered in 26 mm, 34 mm, and 42 mm objective lens sizes to suit different balances of portability and light-gathering. The range is aimed at new nature enthusiasts and anyone looking for reliable binoculars without a high price tag.

Across the range, Vantage HD binoculars share phase-corrected BAK-4 roof prisms and fully multi-coated optics, improving light transmission, contrast, and color fidelity over uncoated alternatives. All models use an open hinge design and a lightweight polycarbonate body wrapped in rubber armour, keeping the binoculars durable without adding unnecessary weight. Every model in the series is nitrogen-purged for waterproof, fogproof performance.

Depending on the objective lens size chosen, users can prioritize a more compact, travel-friendly binocular or a larger-objective model with a bigger exit pupil for improved low-light viewing, while retaining the same core optical quality and build across the range.

About the Model (Hawke Vantage HD 8x42 Binocular)

The Vantage HD 8x42 is the largest-objective configuration in the Vantage HD range, pairing 8x magnification with a 42 mm objective lens for a 5.3 mm exit pupil that makes the most of low-light conditions such as dawn, dusk, or overcast days. It's a natural choice for users who prioritize brightness and general-purpose versatility over compactness.

The phase-corrected BAK-4 roof prisms and fully multi-coated lenses deliver a sharp, high-contrast image with good color accuracy for the price point. The 7.1° field of view (124 m at 1000 m) gives a wide field for tracking moving subjects, and a close focus distance of 2 m, the shortest in the Vantage HD range, allows the binocular to be used for closer subjects such as insects or plants.

The binocular features twist-up eye cups for adjustable eye relief and a right-eye dioptre adjustment to compensate for differences between the user's eyes. An adjustable interpupillary distance of 56-76 mm accommodates a wide range of users, and a built-in 1/4"-20 UNC tripod thread allows the binocular to be mounted for steadier viewing when needed. At 595 g, it's the heaviest model in the range, a natural trade-off for its larger objective lenses, and the nitrogen-purged, waterproof and fogproof polycarbonate body with rubber armour is designed to hold up to regular outdoor use.
