GRS Thumbhole, Remington 700 BDL LA HB

• Thumbhole hunting stock design: The GRS Thumbhole gives the firing hand a more natural, repeatable grip, which helps steady the rifle during field positions and makes shot placement more consistent on hunting rifles.
• Adjustable cheek piece with GRS SpeedLock: Fast cheek-height adjustment helps align the eye with the optic properly, improving comfort behind the scope and supporting a more stable head position from prone, bench, or improvised rests.
• Birch laminate construction: The laminate build combines stiffness and durability with good resistance to hard field use, helping the stock maintain its shape and feel across changing hunting conditions.
• Glass-bedded platform: With glass bedding, the stock is set up to support a solid action fit, which can improve consistency and make the most of a precision hunting rifle based on the Remington 700 BDL LA HB action.
• Long-action magnum capability: Support for calibers up to .375 HH makes this stock suitable not only for standard long-action hunting builds, but also for heavier-recoiling rifle setups where control and stock rigidity matter.

About the GRS Thumbhole Series

The GRS Thumbhole series is the company’s original thumbhole-stock concept and sits within the brand’s laminate hunting stock range. It is built for shooters who want a more supportive grip shape than a conventional sporter stock, while still keeping the handling and lines expected of a field rifle. GRS positions the series for both hunting use and range shooting, which explains its mix of practical ergonomics and traditional stock construction.

Across the series, the stock is made from birch laminate with an oiled finish, giving it the solid feel of wood with the dimensional stability laminate is known for. A defining feature is GRS SpeedLock adjustment, which allows quick cheekpiece changes without turning the stock into a bulky chassis-style system. The Thumbhole line is offered in several color options and inlets for multiple rifle brands, making it a broad platform rather than a single niche model. In use, the series appeals to hunters and recreational precision shooters who want better head position, a more controlled grip, and a stock that remains familiar in balance and carry.

About the GRS Thumbhole, Remington 700 BDL LA HB

The GRS Thumbhole, Remington 700 BDL LA HB is tailored to the long-action heavy-barrel Remington 700 BDL platform, making it a strong fit for hunters and shooters who want a more stable stock than a standard factory option. The thumbhole layout supports a relaxed wrist angle and a more secure hold, which is especially useful when shooting from supported positions, over bags, or from uneven terrain where rifle control matters. For stalking, woodland hunting, alpine hunting, and driven hunt use, that added control helps the rifle come onto target with less strain through the firing hand.

The stock uses laminate construction and a glass-bedding setup, combining structural rigidity with the potential for a more consistent action fit. That matters on a heavy-barrel rifle, where extra front-end weight can expose weaknesses in a less stable stock design. The adjustable cheek piece is one of the model’s most practical features, because it lets the shooter set proper eye alignment for scope use instead of lifting or rolling the head to find the sight picture. With a 390.00 mm length of pull, 40.00 mm forend width, and overall weight of 1300.00 g, the stock balances field portability with enough substance to steady the rifle well. Its non-folding design keeps the structure simple and robust, while support for calibers up to .375 HH shows that it is built to handle serious hunting rifle chamberings.

About GRS

GRS began as a family business in 1983 under the name Grodås Møbler AS, a furniture manufacturer in Norway. The GRS brand itself started in 2010 in Grodås, Hornindal, Norway, and the company began producing laminate rifle stocks in 2011. Today, GRS Riflestocks AS remains headquartered in Hornindal and focuses on rifle stocks for hunting and shooting.

The company’s core expertise is in laminate and composite rifle stocks, along with aluminum chassis stocks for more specialized applications. Its range includes series such as Hunter Light, Sporter, Bifrost, Fenris, Warg, and Ragnarok, reflecting a broad approach that covers traditional hunting rifles as well as more technical shooting platforms. A notable GRS technology is SpeedLock, the company’s adjustment system used to make stock fit changes quicker and more practical in real use.
