EAW XS pivot mount, 36 mm, Sako 85 M

• Repeatable return to zero: The pivot design lets the scope be removed and reattached without shifting point of impact, which is useful when alternating between optics or transporting the rifle more compactly.
• 36 mm ring interface: Built for scopes with a 36 mm main tube, this mount supports large-tube optics often chosen for demanding hunting or long-range setups.
• Steel construction: The all-steel build prioritizes rigidity and wear resistance, helping the mount stay stable under recoil and over many attachment cycles.
• Rifle-specific Sako fit: This version is matched to the Sako 85 M platform and related Sako actions, giving a secure mechanical fit without relying on a one-size-fits-all base.
• Adjustable pivot system: The EAW pivot concept uses adjustable front and rear mount-foot fits, allowing precise installation and helping maintain consistent alignment on the rifle.

About the EAW Pivot Mounts Series

EAW Pivot Mounts are the company’s classic quick-detachable mounting system and have been part of the EAW range for more than 50 years. Within the manufacturer’s lineup, they sit as a traditional steel-based solution for hunters and rifle owners who want a mount that can be removed and reinstalled while preserving the rifle’s zero. The series is intended for common rifles and long guns, and it is especially relevant where one firearm may be used with more than one optic or aiming device.

A defining characteristic of the series is its focus on repeatable attachment. EAW designed these mounts so the scope can be taken off and put back on without changing point of impact, which is why the system remains popular for rifles that need flexible optic setups. The front and rear mount-foot fits are adjustable, allowing careful fitting to the rifle and mount combination. In practical use, that means a secure lock-up, controlled alignment and dependable handling in the field. Across the series, the design philosophy is mechanical precision, robust materials and a detachable format that still behaves like a fixed installation once locked in place.

About the EAW XS pivot mount, 36 mm, Sako 85 M

The EAW XS pivot mount, 36 mm, Sako 85 M is a rifle-specific scope mount built for shooters using a 36 mm main tube optic on the Sako 85 M action. Its role is straightforward: provide a strong, repeatable connection between rifle and scope while keeping the practical advantage of a detachable pivot system. For hunters who move between different sighting setups, or who prefer to remove the scope for transport or storage, that repeatability is the main benefit. Once refitted, the optic returns to the same mechanical position, helping preserve established zero.

The use of steel construction gives this mount the stiffness and long-term durability expected from a traditional premium hunting mount. That matters most on centerfire rifles where recoil, repeated use and environmental exposure can gradually reveal weaknesses in lighter or less precisely fitted systems. The 36 mm ring format also makes this model relevant for larger modern riflescopes, which often use bigger tubes to provide greater adjustment travel or accommodate more complex internal assemblies.

As part of the EAW pivot system, this mount benefits from adjustable front and rear foot fit, a feature that supports careful installation and stable lock-up. In practice, that means the mount is not only detachable, but also engineered to behave consistently after repeated removal and reattachment. For a Sako hunting rifle, it offers a combination of traditional handling, solid steel construction and a mounting format suited to substantial modern optics.

About EAW

EAW traces its origins to 1919, when Ernst Apel founded the company in Würzburg, Germany. The business later moved production from Würzburg to Gerbrunn in 1970, and Ernst Apel GmbH is now headquartered in Eibelstadt, Germany. The company’s core expertise is in riflescope mounting systems, and since 1951 the development and production of scope mounts have been its primary focus.

EAW is particularly known for making pivot, slide-on or roll-off, and claw mounts for sporting rifles. It developed and produced its first riflescope mounts in 1945, establishing the mechanical foundation for the products it is known for today. Alongside mounts, EAW also offers thermal imaging cameras, showing that its product range extends beyond traditional mounting hardware while remaining closely tied to hunting and shooting applications.
