EAW Slide-on Mount for Sako 85 M, 26 mm

• Detachable slide-on design: The mount lets a riflescope be removed and reattached in a practical, repeatable way, which is useful when switching optics or returning to iron-sight use.
• Built for Sako actions: This version is made for the Sako 85 M platform, giving a model-specific fit that suits the rifle’s receiver geometry and supports secure installation.
• 26 mm ring configuration: The mount is designed for 26 mm scope tubes, making it a suitable choice for classic European riflescopes that use this tube diameter.
• Aluminium construction: The aluminium body keeps weight under control while still providing the rigidity needed for a stable optic mounting interface on a hunting rifle.
• Made in Germany: German manufacture reflects EAW’s long-standing focus on precision mounting systems, with attention to fit, repeatability and clean mechanical function.

About the EAW Slide-on Mounts Series

EAW Slide-on Mounts sit within the company’s range as a practical detachable mounting system for shooters who want a removable optic without moving to a more complex mount style. EAW currently lists slide-on and roll-off mounts as a distinct product category, and the series is intended for lighter firearms as well as common rifles with integrated cylindrical or conical mounting prisms. That makes the concept especially relevant where the rifle already lends itself to this style of installation.

A defining characteristic of the series is that the scope can be removed and reattached, which gives the user more flexibility when alternating between optics, transport setups or sighting arrangements. The family includes one-piece and two-piece designs, so the system can be matched to different rifles and optic layouts. EAW also offers versions for fixed installation and repeatable attachment using a lever lock, showing that the series is built around straightforward mechanical solutions rather than unnecessary complexity. In the wider EAW lineup, these mounts represent an economical route into detachable riflescope mounting while keeping the brand’s emphasis on precise fit and dependable handling.

About the EAW Slide-on Mount for Sako 85 M, 26 mm

The EAW Slide-on Mount for Sako 85 M, 26 mm is a model-specific detachable mount made for rifles built on the Sako 85 M action and configured for scopes with a 26 mm main tube. That makes it particularly relevant for hunters using traditional European optics and wanting a mounting solution that matches both the rifle and the scope without unnecessary adapters or compromise.

The practical value of this mount lies in its slide-on construction. A detachable system is useful when the optic needs to come off for transport, maintenance or a different sighting setup, while still preserving the convenience expected from a repeatable mount design. On a hunting rifle, that can matter just as much as raw strength, because a mount also needs to be easy to handle in normal field use.

Its aluminium construction helps keep the setup lighter than a comparable steel design, which is an advantage on a rifle carried over long distances. At the same time, the mount remains purpose-built for securing a riflescope in a stable position on the rifle. As part of EAW’s German-made mount range, this model follows the brand’s established approach: clean mechanical design, rifle-specific fit and a detachable format that supports practical day-to-day use rather than adding bulk or unnecessary complication.

About EAW

EAW traces its origins to 1919, when Ernst Apel founded the company in Würzburg, Germany. The business became closely associated with the EAW name after Ernst Apel acquired Elektro-Dental-Werke Frankfurt in 1923 and changed the EDW brand to EAW, meaning Ernst Apel Würzburg. The company developed and produced its first riflescope mounts in 1945, and since 1951 mount development and production have been its primary focus.

Today, EAW is known for German-made mounting systems for hunting and sporting rifles, including pivot mounts, slide-on or roll-off mounts, and claw mounts. The company later moved production from Würzburg to Gerbrunn in 1970, and Ernst Apel GmbH is now headquartered in Eibelstadt, Germany. Alongside mounts, EAW also offers thermal imaging cameras, but its reputation in this category rests on long experience in building precise, repeatable riflescope mounting solutions.
