EAW Roll-off Mount for Steyr SSG, 30 mm

• Detachable roll-off design: The mount lets the riflescope be removed and reattached, which is useful when switching optics, transporting the rifle more compactly, or returning to iron-sight access where the rifle setup allows it.
• Steyr SSG 69-specific fit: Built for the Steyr Mannlicher SSG 69, this mount matches the rifle-platform interface properly, giving a secure base for a 30 mm scope without relying on generic adapters.
• 30 mm scope compatibility: The ring size suits a wide range of hunting optics and tactical optics with a 30 mm main tube, making it a practical choice for modern riflescope setups.
• Aluminium construction: The aluminium body keeps weight under control while still providing the rigidity needed for stable scope support on a precision rifle.
• KR 10.0 mm extension: The built-in extension helps with scope positioning, making it easier to achieve proper eye relief and a balanced mounting position on the rifle.

About the EAW Roll-off Mounts Series

EAW Roll-off Mounts sit in the brand’s range as a more economical alternative to its pivot mounts, intended for shooters who want repeatable detachable mounting without moving into a more complex system. The series is designed for lighter firearm setups and covers a broad spread of common rifle interfaces, including both rail-based and dovetail-based solutions. That makes the line relevant to traditional sporting rifles as well as more specialised platforms where a model-specific fit is important.

A defining characteristic of the series is its ability to let the optic be removed and reattached, which is the practical reason many shooters choose this style of mount in the first place. Within the family, EAW offers both one-piece and two-piece designs, with model-dependent details such as side support or different upper configurations. The overall design philosophy is straightforward: keep the mount compact, mechanically secure and suitable for everyday field use, while preserving the precise alignment needed for a riflescope to remain dependable after repeated handling. For shooters who want a traditional detachable mounting concept in a lighter, simpler format, the EAW Roll-off Mounts series fills that role clearly.

About the EAW Roll-off Mount for Steyr SSG, 30 mm

The EAW Roll-off Mount for Steyr SSG, 30 mm is a model-specific detachable mount built for the Steyr Mannlicher SSG 69. Its main role is to provide a secure interface between the rifle and a 30 mm riflescope while preserving the practical advantage of a mount that can be removed and reinstalled when the shooting setup changes. On a precision-oriented rifle such as the SSG 69, that matters because the mount is not just a connector between rifle and optic; it is part of the system that supports consistent scope alignment and dependable field handling.

The 30 mm ring format makes this mount suitable for many established hunting optics and tactical optics, especially scopes that use a larger main tube for broader adjustment travel or stronger internal construction. The aluminium construction helps keep the setup lighter than a comparable steel design, which is useful when balancing the rifle with a larger optic fitted. EAW also specifies a KR 10.0 mm extension, a detail that helps with scope placement and eye-relief adjustment. In practice, that gives the installer more flexibility to position the optic correctly for the shooter’s head position and the rifle’s stock geometry. The result is a mount intended for shooters who want a clean, rifle-specific solution with detachable convenience and the proportions needed for a modern 30 mm riflescope.

About EAW

EAW traces its origins to 1919, when Ernst Apel founded the company in Würzburg, Germany. In 1923, he acquired Elektro-Dental-Werke Frankfurt and changed the EDW brand to EAW, meaning Ernst Apel Würzburg. The company produced its first riflescope mounts in 1945, and since 1951 mount development and production have been its primary focus.

Today, EAW is known for German-made mounting systems for sporting, hunting and specialist rifle applications. Its range includes pivot mounts, slide-on or roll-off mounts, and claw mounts, alongside thermal imaging cameras. Production moved from Würzburg to Gerbrunn in 1970, and Ernst Apel GmbH is now headquartered in Eibelstadt, Germany. In this product category, EAW’s reputation rests on precise mechanical fit, repeatable detachable mounting concepts and a long-standing focus on riflescope mounting systems rather than general firearms accessories.
