Discovery Optics VT-R 4-16x40 AOE

• 4-16x variable magnification: The wide zoom range covers close woodland shots at the low end and gives enough image scale for careful hold placement at longer distances, making one riflescope suitable for mixed hunting and general field shooting.
• Adjustable objective parallax: Front parallax adjustment from 10 m to inf helps keep the target and reticle on the same focal plane, which improves aiming precision at short airgun distances as well as farther centerfire use.
• Illuminated SFP reticle: The second focal plane layout keeps the reticle visually consistent through the zoom range, while illumination helps the aiming point stand out against dark backgrounds or in fading light.
• Capped locking turrets: A capped design protects settings from accidental movement during transport, and turret locking adds extra security for a hunting rifle that is carried through brush or packed in a case.
• 1-inch nitrogen-filled tube: The 25.4 mm tube keeps mounting straightforward, while nitrogen filling and waterproof, fogproof construction support reliable use through changing weather and temperature shifts.

About the Discovery Optics VT-R Series

Discovery Optics VT-R is an entry-level riflescope series built to cover practical hunting and shooting needs with straightforward configurations and familiar handling. The range was presented in 2021 with several models, from compact fixed-power options to variable scopes such as 3-9x40, 3-12x42, 4-16x42, 6-24x42 and 10-40x50 variants. That spread gives the series a broad role, from simple field rifles to more deliberate target and varmint setups.

A defining trait of the VT-R family is its variety of layouts, including AC, AOE, AOAC, SF and IRAC versions, so users can choose between simpler hunting formats and models with more adjustment features. The catalog also identifies VCF fully multicoated optics and TES erector support as core series technologies, pointing to a design that prioritizes usable image quality and stable internal adjustment without moving into a heavier or more expensive class. VT-R models shown in the catalog use a 1-inch tube, and adjustable-objective versions offer parallax correction from 10 yards to infinity, which suits both short-range airgun work and general-purpose rifle use.

About the Discovery Optics VT-R 4-16x40 AOE

Discovery Optics VT-R 4-16x40 AOE is a versatile riflescope for shooters who need one optic to cover short-to-medium field distances and more deliberate aiming at the top end of the zoom range. At 4-16x, it stays manageable for general hunting use at lower magnification, then adds enough reach for small targets, load testing or rimfire and varmint work when conditions allow more precise shot placement. The 40.00 mm objective keeps the scope trim enough for practical rifle setups while still supporting a bright, usable image.

This model uses a second focal plane reticle with illumination, a combination that suits shooters who want a reticle that appears the same size throughout the zoom range. In practice, that makes the sight picture less visually busy at high magnification and easier to pick up quickly at lower settings. The adjustable objective parallax system, with correction from 10 m to inf, is especially useful on rifles that see mixed distances, because it helps reduce aiming error when shooting close targets where fixed-parallax scopes are less forgiving.

Mechanically, the VT-R 4-16x40 AOE is built around a 25.4 mm tube with fully multicoated lenses, capped locking turrets and a nitrogen-filled body. The capped layout favors hunting and carry use over constant dialing, protecting the adjustments from knocks and dirt, while the available 60.00 MOA of elevation and windage gives enough adjustment range for normal zeroing and trajectory correction within the scope’s intended role. With a length of 342.00 mm and weight of 580.00 g, it remains substantial enough to feel stable on the rifle without becoming overly bulky.

About Discovery Optics

Discovery Optics, presented by the company as DISCOVERYOPT, states that it was established in 2009 and lists its main operations in Bao'an, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. The company focuses on riflescopes for shooting and hunting, while also offering a broader range of electro-optical sighting devices. That wider catalog includes both conventional optical sights and thermal imaging products for hunting, which shows a clear specialization in aiming and observation equipment rather than general outdoor optics.

Within its riflescope lineup, Discovery Optics offers both first-focal-plane and second-focal-plane reticles, covering simple hunting formats as well as more adjustment-oriented tactical and precision configurations. Its portfolio includes series such as XED, ED, LHD and HD, alongside more accessible models like the VT-R. This mix gives the brand a broad presence across entry-level and more feature-rich optics categories while keeping its emphasis on practical shooting applications.
