Dentler Base Rail BASIS - Dovetail 14.5 mm

• 14.5 mm dovetail fit: This BASIS base rail is made for the 14.5 mm BRNO-style dovetail used on a range of combination guns and rifles, giving a precise firearm-specific foundation without improvised adapters.
• Part of the Dentler BASIS system: The rail stays on the firearm while the upper Dentler interface carries the optic, making it easier to move compatible optics within the BASIS ecosystem while keeping the mounting concept consistent.
• Steel construction: The steel body adds the rigidity needed for a secure optic platform and long service life, especially on hunting firearms that see repeated recoil and regular field use.
• Matte black finish: The non-reflective surface keeps the mount visually discreet and better suited to practical hunting use than a glossy finish.
• Made in Germany: German manufacture aligns with Dentler’s focus on tightly fitted modular mounting components designed for repeatable installation and dependable mechanical engagement.

About the BASIS Series

Dentler BASIS is the company’s core modular mounting system for hunters who want a firearm-specific base and a separate optic-side mounting rail. The concept is straightforward: the base rail remains on the firearm, while the upper mount remains attached to the optic. That division makes the system especially useful for shooters who run different sighting setups or want a cleaner, more standardized way to equip multiple hunting firearms.

Within Dentler’s lineup, BASIS sits alongside BASIS VARIO as the simpler fixed-base solution, while still sharing the same modular logic and interface compatibility. The system is built around precisely matched lower rails for specific firearms and interchangeable upper mounting rails for different optics formats. Dentler offers these upper interfaces for a wide range of sighting systems, which is why the BASIS family is well suited to traditional riflescopes, red dots and other hunting optics. The design philosophy focuses on repeatable positioning, secure clamping and a clean mechanical fit tailored to the firearm rather than a one-size-fits-all mount. For hunters, that means a mounting platform that prioritizes stability, straightforward handling and compatibility across a broader optic setup.

About the Dentler Base Rail BASIS - Dovetail 14.5 mm

The Dentler Base Rail BASIS - Dovetail 14.5 mm is a firearm-side mounting base designed for guns with a 14.5 mm BRNO-style dovetail. Its role is to create the lower half of the Dentler modular mounting system, giving the firearm a dedicated steel interface that accepts a compatible Dentler Mounts Interface above. In practice, this makes it a useful solution for owners of BRNO and similar firearms who want to bring them into the Dentler BASIS ecosystem without changing the character of the gun with oversized universal hardware.

The rail is particularly relevant for classic hunting and combination guns such as the listed BRNO ZH variants, BRNO Super, BRNO Tatra, Heym 22S and related 14.5 mm dovetail platforms. Because the base is matched to this dovetail standard, installation is more coherent than using generic clamp-on solutions, and the result is a lower profile, more integrated mounting foundation. The steel construction supports secure optic mounting under recoil, while the matte black finish keeps the setup visually restrained on traditional sporting firearms.

As part of the BASIS concept, this rail is not an all-in-one mount but the essential lower component that lets the user pair the firearm with the appropriate Dentler upper mount for the chosen optic. That modular approach is valuable when a shooter wants a standardized interface across several firearms or optics, while still using a base tailored to the exact receiver geometry.

About Dentler

Dentler Jagdwaffen was founded in 2011 by Daniel Dentler. Based in Leutkirch im Allgäu, Germany, the company focuses on modular riflescope mounting systems for hunting firearms. Its best-known platforms are BASIS and BASIS VARIO, both built around the idea of combining a firearm-specific base rail with an interchangeable optic mounting rail.

That specialization defines Dentler’s place in the market. Rather than producing a broad mix of shooting accessories, the company concentrates on mounting solutions that let hunters match different optics to different rifles in a structured system. Dentler also offers mounting rails for optics from brands such as Aimpoint, Pulsar, Swarovski and Zeiss, as well as Weaver/Picatinny formats. In the BASIS VARIO line, the company adds continuous height and windage adjustment, showing its emphasis on practical alignment and modular field use rather than generic one-piece mounts.
