Crimson Trace LG-305 Lasergrips For Smith And Wesson J-Frame Round Butt

• Instinctive Activation: the front pressure pad turns the laser on as the revolver is gripped naturally, so the sight is ready without adding extra steps under stress.
• Extended Lasergrips design: the longer grip profile gives small J-Frame revolvers a fuller hold, improving control and comfort during recoil.
• Grip replacement fit: the unit replaces the factory grip rather than clamping to the frame, keeping the revolver compact and preserving a clean carry profile.
• 5mW red laser: the bright red aiming point provides a fast visual reference for close-range defensive use and low-light shooting.
• Rubber overmold construction: the soft outer surface improves purchase in the hand, helping maintain control with lightweight revolvers.

About the Lasergrips Series

Crimson Trace Lasergrips are built for shooters who want a laser sight integrated directly into the grip of the firearm rather than added as a separate external module. Within the company’s laser-sight lineup, the series is known for combining a factory-style fit with the brand’s Instinctive Activation system, which places the activation pad where the hand naturally closes around the grip. That approach keeps operation simple and preserves the handling qualities of compact defensive handguns and revolvers.

Across the series, Lasergrips are aimed primarily at concealed-carry users, personal-defense revolver owners, and shooters who want faster sight indexing in low light or from unconventional shooting positions. The design philosophy focuses on maintaining practical ergonomics while adding a visible aiming reference. Depending on the firearm platform, Lasergrips models vary in size, contour, and material, with some emphasizing minimal bulk and others offering a longer or more cushioned grip shape. What ties the family together is the combination of integrated laser placement, grip-based activation, and a form factor that remains well suited to defensive and everyday-carry handguns.

About the Crimson Trace LG-305 Lasergrips For Smith And Wesson J-Frame Round Butt

The Crimson Trace LG-305 is designed for Smith & Wesson J-Frame round butt revolvers and is especially well suited to defensive carry guns that benefit from both a more secure grip and a faster aiming reference. Its defining feature is the extended grip length, which gives the shooter more hand purchase than shorter J-Frame grip options. On lightweight revolvers, that added length can make a noticeable difference in recoil control, comfort, and consistency from shot to shot.

The laser is activated from the front of the grip through Instinctive Activation, so the aiming point appears when the revolver is held in a normal firing grip. In practical use, this matters because it avoids separate switches or altered hand placement, allowing the revolver to remain simple to operate. The 5mW peak, 633nm, Class 3R red laser provides a clear aiming reference for close-range work, while the stated dot size of approximately 0.50 inches at 50' supports precise zeroing and deliberate shot placement.

The LG-305 also uses a rubber overmold over a polymer base, combining a secure feel with the durability expected from a grip replacement unit. Because it mounts as a direct grip replacement, it keeps the revolver streamlined for carry while adding windage and elevation adjustment for fine-tuning. For J-Frame owners who want a laser-equipped defensive revolver without giving up compact handling, the LG-305 balances aiming speed, control, and everyday practicality.

About Crimson Trace

Crimson Trace was established in 1994 and built its reputation around firearm-mounted aiming and illumination systems. The company is known for making firearm laser sights and firearm-mounted lights, with product families that include Lasergrips, Laserguard, and Rail Master. A defining part of its design approach is Instinctive Activation, which uses pressure pads positioned to engage with a normal shooting grip rather than requiring a separate deliberate switch press.

Beyond handgun laser sights, Crimson Trace also offers riflescopes and rangefinders, showing a broader focus on practical shooting optics and accessories. The company operates a facility in Columbia, Missouri, United States, and its products are widely associated with defensive handguns, concealed-carry setups, and other firearms where fast target indexing matters.
