Caldwell AR500 Rimfire Dueling Tree

• Six reactive paddles: Each hit swings a target from one side of the post to the other, giving immediate visual feedback that keeps practice fast, competitive, and easy to score.
• AR500 steel construction: The target faces are built for repeated use with popular rimfire cartridges, so the setup stands up to regular range sessions better than disposable targets.
• Rimfire-specific design: Rated for .22 LR, .22 WMR, and .17 HMR, this dueling tree is tuned for the kind of ammunition many shooters use for affordable training and informal competition.
• Adjustable center post angle: The post angle can be set for uneven ground and different impact energies, helping the paddles reset and move reliably in real outdoor range conditions.
• Stable freestanding base: A 24” x 24” base and 54” overall height create a self-supporting target system that is easy to place on almost any range without extra hanging hardware.

About the Caldwell Accessories Series

Caldwell Accessories covers a broad mix of practical shooting gear built around range use, firearm handling, and training support. Within the Caldwell lineup, the series sits as a utility-focused family rather than a single tightly defined product platform, bringing together equipment intended to make practice sessions more organized, repeatable, and durable. That approach suits shooters who want dependable gear for informal range days, structured drills, and routine firearms maintenance.

Across the series, Caldwell emphasizes straightforward function, robust materials, and designs that are easy to transport and set up. The range includes products for target shooting, support equipment, and other shooting accessories, with an emphasis on gear that can handle repeated use in outdoor conditions. In practical terms, the series is aimed at shooters who value equipment that helps them spend more time training and less time dealing with complicated setups. For target-related products in particular, the focus is on visible feedback, durable construction, and simple operation, which makes the series relevant for both solo practice and friendly competition.

About the Caldwell AR500 Rimfire Dueling Tree

The Caldwell AR500 Rimfire Dueling Tree is built to make rimfire practice more dynamic than static paper shooting. Its defining feature is a bank of six 4” square targets that pivot from one side of the center post to the other when struck. That movement gives instant confirmation of a hit and creates a natural rhythm for speed drills, transitions, and head-to-head competition. It works equally well for informal matches between two shooters and for solo sessions focused on cadence, target acquisition, and consistency.

The target system is designed around common rimfire cartridges, with AR500 steel paddles rated for .22 LR, .22 WMR, and .17 HMR. That makes it a practical choice for high-volume training where low recoil and lower ammunition cost matter. Because the targets react clearly even to lighter-impact rounds, the setup keeps practice engaging without requiring centerfire energy levels.

A 54” center post and 24” x 24” base give the dueling tree a stable freestanding layout, while the adjustable post angle helps the paddles operate reliably on uneven ground and with different rimfire loads. In use, that means less time spent correcting target behavior and more time shooting. The steel construction also suits repeated outdoor use, making this Caldwell target a solid fit for shooters who want a reusable training tool for rimfire range work.

About Caldwell

Caldwell is a shooting-supplies brand focused on equipment for shooting ranges and firearms use. Its catalog covers a wide span of practical gear, including shooting rests, targets, ballistic chronographs, and electronic hearing protection, which reflects a strong emphasis on training and range support rather than firearms themselves. The brand is also known for named product families such as Lead Sled shooting rests and E-Max electronic hearing protection.

In December 2014, Smith & Wesson announced its acquisition of Battenfeld Technologies, which included Caldwell Shooting Supplies. Caldwell’s product range also extends to steel targets, target-launching equipment, and magazine loaders sold under the Mag Charger name. That background helps explain the brand’s reputation for practical accessories designed to improve training efficiency, shot evaluation, and overall range use.
