Bushnell Nitro 5-20x44

• 5-20x magnification range: Covers the gap between medium-range hunting and more deliberate long-range shot placement, giving the scope enough reach for small targets without becoming overly specialized.
• 44 mm objective with fully multi-coated optics: Helps maintain a bright, usable image across changing light conditions while improving contrast and reducing distracting glare in the field.
• Side parallax adjustment from 9.2m to infinity: Lets the shooter fine-tune image focus and reduce aiming error at varying distances, which matters most as magnification increases.
• Capped 1/4 MOA turrets: Protect the settings from accidental movement during transport and hard use, making the scope well suited to hunting rifles that are carried more than they are dialed.
• IPX-7 waterproof, nitrogen-filled construction: Supports reliable use in rain, cold mornings, and rapid temperature changes by resisting water ingress and internal fogging.

About the Bushnell Nitro Series

The Bushnell Nitro series was introduced in 2018 as a line of riflescopes aimed at hunters and precision shooters who want more adjustment and optical flexibility than a basic hunting optic. Across the range, Nitro models span from lower-power configurations suited to general stalking and woodland use to higher-magnification versions intended for open-country hunting and more exact shot placement at distance. That broad spread makes the series relevant to both traditional hunting optics users and shooters who want a scope that can stretch into longer-range work.

A defining trait of the series is its combination of fully multi-coated optics, EXO Barrier on the exterior lens surfaces, and side parallax adjustment throughout the line. In practice, that means the Nitro family is built around image clarity, easier maintenance in wet or dusty conditions, and better focus control as distances change. The series also includes different reticle options such as Deploy MOA, Deploy MIL, and Multi-X, with models available in either first- or second-focal-plane layouts and with either capped or target-style turrets. That variety gives the Nitro line a practical place between straightforward hunting scopes and more specialized tactical optics.

About the Bushnell Nitro 5-20x44

The Bushnell Nitro 5-20x44 is a variable-power riflescope built for shooters who need one optic to cover a wide spread of distances. At 5x, it remains manageable for general field use and target acquisition on medium-range game, while 20x provides the extra image scale needed for precise aiming on small targets or for careful shot placement in open terrain. That makes this model particularly well suited to mountain hunting, varmint work, and range use where distances are less predictable.

The optical system pairs a 44.00 mm objective with fully multi-coated lenses, balancing light transmission with a trim enough front end to keep the scope from becoming overly bulky on a hunting rifle. The listed 94.00 mm eye relief gives a consistent head position and helps maintain comfort on rifles with more noticeable recoil. Field of view ranges from 6.30 m/100m to 1.60 m/100m, so the scope starts with enough width for scanning and then narrows appropriately as magnification rises for more exact aiming.

Mechanically, this Nitro uses capped turrets with 7mm/100m - 1/4MOA clicks, a practical setup for shooters who prefer to zero once and hold rather than constantly dial in the field. The side-focus parallax system adjusts from 9.2m to infinity, which is especially important at higher magnification where image sharpness and aiming precision become more sensitive to distance. A 30 mm tube, nitrogen filling, fogproof construction, shock resistance, and IPX-7 waterproofing round out a design intended for regular outdoor use in changing weather.

About Bushnell

Bushnell was founded in 1948 by Dave Bushnell, who began selling optical products from a photographic shop in Pasadena, California. The company developed into a broad sports-optics manufacturer with product categories that include binoculars, riflescopes, red dot sights, rangefinders, spotting scopes, and trail cameras. Its focus has long been practical outdoor optics for hunting, target shooting, birding, and general nature observation.

Within the riflescope market, Bushnell is known for maintaining several distinct product families, including Legend, Prime, Elite Tactical, and AR Optics, each aimed at different users and budgets. One of the brand technologies relevant to this scope is EXO Barrier, a protective lens coating designed to repel water, oil, dust, and debris on exterior lens surfaces. Bushnell became part of a larger outdoor-products group when ATK acquired Bushnell Group Holdings in 2013, but the brand has remained closely associated with accessible, field-oriented optics.
