Athlon Ares HLR 4-24x50

• Wide 4-24x magnification range: Covers everything from closer woodland shots to deliberate long-range work, so one riflescope can handle mixed hunting terrain and changing distances.
• Second focal plane illuminated reticle: The reticle stays visually fine at higher magnification for precise aiming, while the red illumination helps the center stand out against dark targets in poor light.
• Exposed tactical turrets with Zero Stop: Fast, repeatable dialing makes holdovers less guesswork at distance, and the zero stop gives a reliable return to the original zero after elevation changes.
• Side parallax adjustment from 9m to infinity: Fine focus at short and long distances reduces aiming error and keeps the target image sharper across the scope’s full magnification range.
• Fully multi-coated, argon-purged construction: Better light transmission and resistance to internal fogging help maintain a clear sight picture when weather and temperature shift in the field.

About the Athlon Ares HLR Series

The Athlon Ares HLR series sits as a current hunting-focused line in Athlon’s riflescope range, introduced in April 2026. It is built for shooters who want a lighter, more streamlined optic than a dedicated competition scope, but still need the dialing capability and feature set required for practical long-range hunting. The series includes 2.5-15x42 and 4-24x50 models, both based on a 30 mm tube with exposed turrets, side parallax adjustment, argon purging and waterproof construction.

Athlon positions the Ares HLR family around real field use rather than bench-only shooting. All listed models use second focal plane illuminated reticles, which keeps the reticle appearance consistent through the zoom range and gives hunters a clean aiming view at higher magnification. Depending on the version, reticle choices include AHMC1 Fiber Dot MOA, APLR-H2 MOA and APRS-H2 MIL, allowing the series to suit shooters who prefer either MOA or MIL-based corrections. Fully multi-coated lenses and an aircraft-grade aluminum design round out the concept: a practical hunting riflescope series with enough adjustment, durability and optical reach for open-country use.

About the Athlon Ares HLR 4-24x50

The Athlon Ares HLR 4-24x50 is the higher-magnification model in the series, intended for hunters who need more reach for small targets, longer shot opportunities and careful shot placement in open terrain. Its 4-24x magnification range gives it a broad working envelope: lower power remains usable for scanning and target acquisition, while the upper end provides the image scale needed for precise aiming at extended distances. The 50 mm objective lens supports a bright, usable image without pushing the scope into the bulk of larger objective designs.

This model uses a 30 mm main tube with 32.00 mrad of elevation and windage adjustment, giving ample dialing range for distance work. The tactical turrets are designed for active adjustment in the field, and the Zero Stop system helps the shooter return quickly to the original zero after dialing for range. Side focus parallax adjustment from 9m - inf is especially useful on a 24x scope, where image focus and parallax control become more important as target distance changes.

The SFP illuminated reticle keeps a familiar reticle size throughout the zoom range, which many hunters prefer when moving between magnifications. Red illumination improves reticle visibility against dark backgrounds at dawn, dusk or in shaded cover, while the 100.00 mm eye relief helps maintain a comfortable shooting position. At 595.00 g and 335.00 mm, this riflescope stays compact enough for a hunting rifle that still needs meaningful long-range capability.

About Athlon

Athlon Optics was founded in 2014 and describes itself as a U.S. sports optics company. Its catalog covers riflescopes, binoculars, spotting scopes, rangefinders, red-dot sights and thermal optics, with products aimed at hunting, shooting and general outdoor use. That broad focus is relevant here because Athlon develops optics across both observation and aiming categories, giving the brand a strong presence in practical field equipment rather than in a single niche.

Within its lineup, Athlon is known for families such as Cronus and Midas, and for optical technologies including UHD glass in selected models to reduce chromatic fringe, ESP dielectric coating for high light reflection through prism systems, and XPL exterior-lens coating for added lens-surface protection. The brand also uses a precision zero-stop system in relevant riflescope models, showing a clear emphasis on usable mechanical features as well as optical performance.
