Hello and welcome to another episode of Optics Trade Debates. Today, we are going to compare the 2 versions of Pulsar’s mobile app Stream Vision. For a more detailed look at Stream Vision 2, continue HERE. This debate will only touch on the differences between the 2 apps.

Let us begin by emphasizing that the main objective of Stream Vision 1 and Stream Vision 2 is the same. Pulsar developed SV apps to elevate the user experience of their customers.

The difference between the apps is in which functionalities they enable. Many features are purely functional – like easy access to device settings, media files, and firmware updates.

The first change is in the viewfinder. Stream Vision 1 only allowed landscape mode. With SV2, users can now use the viewfinder in both landscape and portrait modes.

One feature that is no longer available in the Stream Vision 2 is the direct Youtube Livestream. Not to be confused – watching real-time action from a remote location is still possible (if you affix the Pulsar near a feeding station and connect to the optic from home, for example). But the user won’t be able to make a direct broadcast of that action on the Youtube platform.

An even bigger difference between Stream Vision 1 and Stream Vision 2 is in the ballistic calculator. SV1 users really liked this feature but it made the app that more complex. Pulsar decided to release SV2 without the ballistic calculator. Instead, they intend to release it as a completely stand-alone Ballistic App. It is not yet known when that will happen.

Motion detection function will mainly stay the same, with a few tweaks and upgrades. Just be aware that the Beta version of Stream Vision 2 went live without the motion sensor feature.

What’s completely new is the newsfeed. This added feature will let you know about new Pulsar devices, events, and company announcements. No matter what happens in the world of Pulsar and Yukon devices, you’ll be the first to know the details.

Pulsar Cloud (16 GB)

Pulsar Cloud is the biggest advantage of using Stream Vision 2. Once you register your Pulsar device in the SV2 app, you’ll be able to access 16 gigabytes of free storage. From there, you can also share your clips and photos with other users.

Stream Vision 1 cannot compare, since all media files had to be stored either inside the optic or the smartphone phone.

User Interface and App Stability

Perhaps the biggest gripe of Stream Vision users was that the first app was not stable enough. It was easy to lose the connection or the app crashed. Connectivity won’t be a problem with SV2, the app is now more reliable and smooth-working.

Last but not least, there is also a slight difference in app design. The user interface was completely reworked. Stream Vision 2 is designed to be more intuitive, with improved workflow. You’ll be able to navigate through the SV2 features much faster than it was possible with the SV1.
