Pard Leopard Thermal Imaging Monoculars

Since starting up in 2010, PARD has gradually caught our eye as it grew. Over the years, they’ve made their range of night vision and thermal imaging devices better and bigger, gaining recognition around the world. This year, like many before, our team went to the IWA 2024 fair in Nuremberg, Germany. It is a place where thousands come together to talk about, learn, and see the newest things the outdoor gear market has to offer. During our visit, we stopped by PARD‘s booth to see what they came up with for 2024. Andraž from our marketing team had a chat with the PARD team to find out more about the Pard Leopard Thermal Imaging Monoculars.

This year, the PARD booth was notably busy, which wasn’t surprising given the company introduced some hot new products. Among the latest, we explored their new addition to the thermal monocular lineup, the Leopard.

Much like we observed with the Predator clip-on system, PARD is clearly focusing on making their devices compact and sleek, a change warmly welcomed in the world of thermal imaging. Essentially, the more portable and durable, the better. PARD seems to have nailed this balance with the Leopard. The device’s small size and design quickly caught our attention, standing out as possibly the smallest fully functional thermal imaging monocular currently available. It fits snugly in the hand, ensuring a steady and comfortable grip.

The monocular will come with PARD’s newly improved sensors, available in either 640 or 480 resolution configurations. The Leopard model we saw at IWA had a standard 35 mm lens with a focusing ring on the outer housing and a laser rangefinder unit. However, future production models for end customers will also be available without the laser rangefinder.

The device is powered by a rechargeable standard 18650 battery and supports photo and video capture, which has become a common feature in thermal imaging by 2024. From our observations at the fair, the device’s housing is made from both plastic and aluminum, providing a durable feel.

Price and Warranty

PARD is known for setting competitive and fair prices for their devices, and we anticipate this trend will continue with the new Leopard series of monoculars. Naturally, we were keen to find out the price at IWA, but the company has kept these details under wraps. The device is a fresh addition to the market, and as such, detailed technical information is not yet widely available online. Jacob mentioned that the Leopard is expected to be available between April and May, when more details about the product and its pricing will be released. The Leopard is positioned to be a leading product in PARD’s thermal monocular lineup, potentially phasing out some older models. It’s expected that PARD will provide a standard 3-year warranty for the Leopard, consistent with their other thermal imaging products.

We believe PARD is moving in a new direction with its approach to thermal imaging, offering something refreshing to the market. If they price it right, this concept could significantly impact the competitive landscape. We’re excited to get a few units in for further testing.
