Our Observations
With Guide TA450, the user has to long-press the on/off button for about 4 seconds until the manufacturer’s logo appears. We pressed the “UP” button as soon as the logo appeared. As soon as the device responds, the ready-to-use timer stops. In this case, the device was ready to be used about a second after the image appeared.
For the Guide TA450 thermal device, we used the generic insertable batteries from Panasonic. The device supports 3V batteries, therefore we used the Panasonic CR123, 3V batteries. Please note that the results might vary if you use different ones. You can also use rechargeable batteries, as the charger comes with the device. The charger is included in the box, but you have to purchase the batteries yourself.
The device is easy to handle, and you can press the buttons even if you are wearing gloves. In my opinion, the on/off button could be a bit bigger, as it is not too comfortable to press and hold. While testing it, I pressed the button multiple times, and my finger was a bit sore, as it is a bit harder to press. I did not like it very much, mostly because of that combination – small size and difficult to press. Nevertheless, it could also be a good thing, so you do not accidentally press it in your pocket or bag.
Guide TA450 has a Standby option, which is a useful battery-saving feature. If you wish to enter the Standby mode, you must hold the on/off button until the progress bar appears. Then, you must release the button before the progress bar is full, and that is when the screen turns off and the device enters the Standby mode. To use the device again, you simply press any button, and the display instantly appears. The device is also instantly responsive to users’ actions.
To turn the Guide TA450 off, the user must hold the on/off button, wait until the progress bar is filled up and the device turns off.
