Our Observations
With Guide TA450, the manufacturer provides the information about the battery life where they state that the battery life is over 3 hours with 2 CR123 batteries at @ 25°C. We tested the device, and our measured time was 2:20 hours, which is quite shorter.
As you can see in the video, we tested the device at 21.9 – 23.8°C, which is similar to the temperature the manufacturer provides along with the battery life and is usually used for testing.
Do keep in mind that while testing, we didn’t press any buttons or use any functions, but that’s usually not the case when using the device on the field. Using different functions (such as video recording, changing color modes, Wi-Fi, etc.) usually affects the battery, so we can expect that the battery life will be a little shorter in real-life situations.
We tested the device with the default settings, without altering them, but we did change one thing. Guide TA450 has an automatic standby mode, in which it enters if we don’t press any buttons. You can set the time after which it enters this mode (tu bojo napisani časi, samo ugotovit še jih morma), or turn this function off completely, which we did for this testing.
For the Guide TA450 thermal device, we used the generic insertable batteries from Panasonic. The device supports 3V batteries, therefore we used the Panasonic CR123, 3V batteries. Please note that the results might vary if you use different ones. You can also use rechargeable batteries, as the charger is included in the box, but you must purchase the batteries yourself.
As mentioned, the Guide TA450 has a Standby option, which is a useful battery-saving feature. When the device is in Standby Mode, the battery usage is smaller, and it lasts longer.
To turn the device off, the user must hold the power button until the device turns off.
