Introduction
Vortex Razor HD series is one of the few that can compare with the European premium spotting scopes of the highest quality class. Gen 2 offers an even better image quality. The housing of the binoculars has been slightly redesigned – they no longer come in two colours but are green all over. They have a smaller zoom factor than Gen 1 which contributes to a brighter image and lessens chromatic aberration.

Vortex came up with a similar solution as Swarovski – Razor HD gen 2’s focusing ring is now placed on the body of the scope and is no longer on the eyepiece. These spotting scopes have a very fine focus which aids in achieving high-definition images with no degradation of resolution. The oculars are noticeably bigger than in Gen 1. Because of bigger oculars, use of the device is much more convenient and less sensitive to eye position. Focusing ring’s big diameter allows fine and precise focus adjustment.
First impressions
These spotting scopes are of outstanding quality. The new design is stylish and very appealing, conforming to the contemporary trends. The first impression of Vortex Razor HD is very good – the optical qualities seem great, but it is hard to come to conclusions based on a single test at Shot show 2017.
Conclusion
Spotting scopes are not nearly as popular as riflescopes and binoculars; still, it is great that they are being upgraded constantly.
