Our Observations

To avoid any confusion, Hikvision OWL 15 and Hikmicro Lynx-UF15 are the same product, just under a different name.

With Hikvision OWL 15, the user has to long-press the on/off button for approximately 6 seconds until the manufacturer’s logo appears, which is quite long. After the logo disappears, the image appears, and the Start up timer stops. After some time, the icons appear in the top right and bottom left corner – that is when the device becomes responsive to the users’ actions and the second timer stops.

To show the ready to use time, we were pressing the Zoom Button. The number of times we pressed it button does not matter; the ready-to-use time does not get any longer/shorter.

As the manufacturer states, Hikvision OWL 15 has a built-in, simple-to-charge battery. You can charge the device with a micro-USB type B power cable.

The box includes a basic quick-start guide, a fully detailed manual explaining all the functions and device operation options that can be accessed through the QR code, which you can find in the Quick-Guide.

The device is easy to handle, and the buttons are easy to press even if you are wearing gloves.

When measuring the time from the moment your finger presses the button and up to the part where the image appears, we can see that the actual start-up time is approximately 12.36 seconds.

When measuring the time from the moment your finger presses the button and up to the part where the device responds to all users’ actions (ready to use time) is approximately 33.39 seconds.

Hikvision OWL 15 has a Standby option, which is a remarkably useful battery-saving feature. With the press of the on/off button, the screen turns off and the device enters the Standby mode. To use the device again, you simply press the on/off button.
