Passion SD – GPO’s entry-level binoculars
The Passion ED binoculars, especially the 8×42 and 10×42 models, have earned a reputation as best-sellers in the 500 € price class, thanks to their excellent price-performance ratio. GPO is now expanding its lineup with the Passion SD series, aimed at providing an even more accessible entry point into their range. At Shot Show 2024, we had the chance to explore these new models firsthand.
Additional new products from GPO for 2024 are the Rangeguide models in 8×40 and 10×40, alongside the Rangetracker 2000.
What is the difference between GPO Passion ED and GPO Passion SD series?
Unlike the Passion ED series, the Passion SD binoculars do not incorporate ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass, which results in optics that are slightly less refined. Additionally, the eyecups on the SD models are made of plastic rather than aluminium. Finally, SD series is available in a single, black color option. These differences enable the Passion SD series to be offered at a lower price point. Despite not matching the ED series’ level of quality, the SD binoculars represent great value for money and maintain the elegant GPO aesthetic that is a key aspect of their brand identity.
Model Range
The Passion SD series from GPO includes six models, catering to various needs and preferences: 8×26 and 10×26 as pocket-sized options, 8×34 and 10×34 as compact versions, and 8×42 and 10×42 as full-size models.
Coming in Q2, 2024
The GPO Passion SD series binoculars are expected to hit the market in Q2, before summertime. They will be priced between 250–400 €, depending on the model. They come with a 10-year warranty.
