Sightmark Citadel 1–10×24 CR1

Sightmark is an optics manufacturing company that has been gaining in popularity in recent years. Their products are very interesting because they are packed with features but offered at an affordable price. Their red dot sights, for example, are a great bang for the buck at around 150 €, not to mention the vast range of models in their offer. The same goes for their riflescopes. I visited their booth at Shot Show 2019 and was shown all the new products, including the new Citadel 1–10×24 CR1 riflescope which I am going to review in this short article.

New features

A 10x zoom factor for 480 $? That is an incredibly good deal, considering that the riflescope features fully multi-coated optical parts that provide decent optics. Sightmark used aircraft-grade aluminum (6061 T6) and hard-anodized finish for the housing, achieving a durable construction – it is said to be shockproof, fogproof and waterproof (IP67 certified). Citadel 1–10×24 CR1 has a 30mm tube and low-profile, capped turrets which can be operated by hand without any special tools. Sightmark used the CR1 reticle (horseshoe) for this riflescope, making it a little bit more tactical-oriented. Nevertheless, it can still be used for close-to-mid-range hunting. The reticle’s holdovers match with the bullet trajectory of 55-grain .223. There are 11 illumination intensity levels to choose from. A throw lever for the magnification ring is included. Objective and ocular lenses are protected with flip-up covers.

Sightmark continues to offer its optical devices at incredibly affordable prices. For a retail price of 480 $, this riflescope has plenty to offer. I was not yet told of the release date but was assured that it will hit the market quite soon.
