Hawke Frontier 34 5-30x56 FFP Product description

  • First Focal Plane Reticle (FFP Mil Pro Ext or MOA Pro Ext): The reticle is positioned in the first focal plane and scales proportionally with magnification, which means all subtension values remain accurate at every zoom level. Holdovers, ranging, and wind corrections can be applied reliably across the entire 5–30× range without recalculation — a key practical advantage in long-range shooting where conditions and distances can change rapidly.
  • Patented Zero Lock 'N' Stop Elevation Turret: The exposed elevation turret incorporates a physical zero stop that prevents rotation below the shooter's set zero. After dialling elevation for an extended-range shot, returning to the original zero is as simple as rotating the turret clockwise until it stops — no click counting, no revolution tracking required.
  • 34mm Mono-Tube Chassis for Extended Mechanical Range: The precision-machined 34mm aluminium mono-tube provides substantially more internal volume than a standard 30mm design, enabling 29 MRAD (or 99 MOA) of total elevation travel. This gives long-range shooters the mechanical headroom needed to dial for extreme distances without running out of adjustment.
  • H7 Optical System with 56mm Objective Lens: The H7 optical system combines high-grade, low-dispersion crown glass with 21-layer fully multi-coated lenses and a 56mm objective to deliver high light transmission, strong contrast, and a bright, detailed image across the magnification range. The larger objective contributes to a generous exit pupil at lower power settings, supporting image brightness in low-light field conditions.
  • 30× Maximum Magnification: The upper end of the magnification range provides the image scale needed for precise shot placement at distances where lesser magnification would not resolve sufficient target detail. The 5× minimum retains a usable 7.5-metre field of view at 100 metres, giving the scope enough flexibility for medium-range use and target identification beyond a dedicated ultra-high-magnification competition scope.
  • Multi-LED Illuminated Reticle with 11 Brightness Levels: The reticle centre is illuminated in red across 11 intensity settings, with off positions between each step. The stepped rheostat control allows precise brightness adjustment to match ambient light conditions — from bright midday shooting to low-light hunting at dawn or dusk.
  • Side Focus Parallax Adjustment: The side-mounted parallax knob covers 14 metres to infinity, allowing fast and precise parallax correction without changing the firing position. This is particularly practical during extended shooting sessions or when rapidly switching between targets at varying distances.
  • Sealed and Nitrogen Purged Construction: The mono-tube is fully sealed and nitrogen purged, making the scope waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof. Internal fogging is prevented even during rapid temperature changes between environments. The scope is rated for use with all calibres.

About the Frontier 34 FFP Series

The Hawke Frontier 34 FFP series sits at the top of Hawke's riflescope range, built around the company's flagship H7 optical system and a precision-machined 34mm aluminium mono-tube chassis. The series targets precision and long-range shooters who require high mechanical adjustment range, first focal plane reticle accuracy, and reliable optical performance across demanding conditions and applications.

All models in the Frontier 34 FFP series feature high-grade, low-dispersion crown glass with 21-layer fully multi-coated lenses, providing consistent image brightness, strong contrast, and clear sharpness from the lowest to the highest magnification setting. The optical specification is designed to maintain reliable image quality in the variable lighting conditions typical of hunting use, including the critical low-light periods around dawn and dusk.

The defining mechanical feature of the series is Hawke's patented Zero Lock 'N' Stop elevation turret system. The exposed turrets are locking, resettable, and fitted with a physical zero stop that prevents unintentional sub-zero rotation. The 34mm tube diameter provides the internal volume required for a substantially greater elevation adjustment range than a standard 30mm design allows, making the Frontier 34 FFP series well suited to precision rifle competition, extreme-range hunting, and any application where maximum mechanical travel is a priority.

The series is offered in two optical configurations — the 3-18x50 for a wider field of view and lighter carry weight, and the 5-30x56 for maximum magnification and light-gathering capacity — each available in Mil Pro Ext (MRAD) and MOA Pro Ext reticle variants to match the shooter's preferred ballistic measurement system.

About the Model (Hawke Frontier 34 FFP 5-30x56)

The Hawke Frontier 34 FFP 5-30x56 is a first focal plane riflescope built for long-range precision shooting where high magnification, generous mechanical adjustment, and strong optical performance are the primary requirements. The 5–30× magnification range delivers a 6× zoom ratio, with a field of view of 7.5 metres at 100 metres at minimum power that keeps the scope practical across a wider range of distances than a fixed high-magnification optic, while the 30× upper limit provides the resolution needed for precise shot placement at extreme distances.

The 56mm objective lens, combined with the H7 optical system and 21-layer fully multi-coated lenses, delivers high light transmission and a bright, high-contrast image across the full magnification range. An exit pupil of 11.2 mm at minimum magnification contributes meaningfully to image brightness in low-light conditions encountered during early morning or late evening hunts.

The scope is available in two reticle variants. The Mil Pro Ext version (art. no. 10.18640) uses MRAD-spaced holdover markings with hollow outer posts extending to 15 mrad, paired with exposed turrets offering 0.1 MRAD click values, 29 MRAD of elevation travel, and 15 MRAD of windage travel. The MOA Pro Ext version (art. no. 10.18641) uses MOA-spaced markings extending to 60 MOA of holdover, with ¼ MOA click-value turrets offering 99 MOA of elevation and 53 MOA of windage travel. Both variants feature an illuminated reticle centre in red with 11 brightness levels and off positions between each step, controlled via a stepped rheostat.

The elevation turret on both variants uses Hawke's patented Zero Lock 'N' Stop system — exposed, locking, resettable, and equipped with a physical zero stop. The windage turret is also exposed and locking, but without a zero stop. Side-mounted parallax adjustment covers 14 metres to infinity. The locking fast-focus eyebell allows the dioptre setting to be secured once established, and a removable zoom throw lever is supplied as standard, enabling rapid magnification changes without breaking cheek weld.

The hard-anodised aluminium mono-tube is sealed and nitrogen purged, rated as waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof for all calibres and weather conditions. Overall length is 392 mm and weight is 830 g.

About Hawke

Hawke Optics is a British optics brand registered in England and Wales, with products distributed across Europe, North America, and international markets. The company produces a broad range of optical products including riflescopes, airgun scopes, binoculars, spotting scopes, red dot sights, and laser rangefinders, covering applications from hunting and precision shooting to nature observation and marine use.

Hawke organises its riflescope lineup into distinct optical system tiers — from the entry-level H2 through H5 to the flagship H7 — with each tier reflecting the glass specification, coating technology, and mechanical feature level of the products within it. The Frontier series is built on the H7 system, representing the highest optical and mechanical specification in Hawke's current riflescope range.
