IOR Recon 4-28x50 IL (Mil/Mil) Product description

  • 7x zoom range: The 4-28x magnification span covers close, fast target engagement at the low end and precise shot placement at long range at the top end, so one riflescope can serve multiple rifle setups and shooting distances.
  • First focal plane SHX-X1 reticle: Because the reticle stays proportional through the zoom range, holdovers and ranging references remain consistent at any magnification, which is especially useful for tactical shooting and rapid corrections.
  • 0.10 MIL tactical turrets with Zero Stop: Precise MIL-based clicks, multi-turn elevation travel and a hard return point make dialing faster and reduce the chance of getting lost on the turret after large corrections.
  • Parallax adjustment from 7 m to infinity: The unusually close minimum parallax setting helps keep the image and reticle aligned from short-range practice to extended-distance shooting, improving precision across varied use cases.
  • 40 mm main tube and 34.30 mrad elevation range: The large tube gives the scope generous internal adjustment travel, which helps when zeroing different calibers or building a setup for long-range trajectories.

About the IOR Recon Series

The IOR Recon series sits in the brand’s tactical riflescope range and is built for shooters who need one optic to cover a wide spread of distances. Its defining trait is a high zoom ratio combined with a robust mechanical layout, giving the series a role in long-range shooting, practical competition and demanding field use where targets may appear from relatively close range out to extended distances. Rather than focusing on a narrow specialty, the Recon concept emphasizes versatility without giving up the features expected on a serious MIL-based optic.

Across the series, the design centers on first focal plane reticles, tactical turret systems and side or objective parallax correction suited to precision work. The optical system is intended to provide a useful balance between field of view at lower magnification and target detail at higher power, while the mechanical construction prioritizes repeatable adjustments and durability. In practical terms, Recon models are aimed at shooters who dial corrections, use reticle holds, and need an optic that remains functional across training, competition, and field applications instead of being optimized for only one distance band.

About the IOR Recon 4-28x50 IL (Mil/Mil)

The IOR Recon 4-28x50 IL (Mil/Mil) is the long-range oriented model in the line, built around a 4-28x magnification range and a 50 mm objective lens. That combination gives it a broad working envelope: 4x remains manageable for nearer targets and positional shooting, while 28x offers the image scale needed for precise aiming on small or distant targets. With a field of view of 9.80 m/100m to 1.40 m/100m, it balances situational awareness at the low end with target discrimination at the high end.

The SHX-X1 reticle is placed in the first focal plane, so its subtensions stay true throughout the zoom range. For a MIL/MIL setup, that matters in practice because the reticle and turrets speak the same unit system, making hold corrections and dialed adjustments easier to manage under time pressure. Red illumination helps the center stand out against dark backgrounds or in low-contrast light, while the non-daylight-bright design keeps the emphasis on precise aiming rather than reflex-style use.

This model is also configured for shooters who rely on dialing. Its 0.10 MIL clicks, 34.30 mrad elevation travel, tactical multi-turn turret layout and Zero Stop support repeatable elevation changes and a confident return to zero. Parallax adjustment from 7 m to infinity is unusually flexible for a scope in this class, making it useful not only for long-range work but also for short-range zeroing and technical practice. A 40 mm main tube, fully multicoated lenses, nitrogen filling, and waterproof, fogproof and shockproof construction round out a riflescope designed for hard use on precision and tactical rifles.

About IOR

IOR is a Romanian optics manufacturer headquartered in Bucharest. The company was founded in Bucharest in 1936, and it was nationalized in 1948. In the sporting market, IOR produces riflescopes for hunting and sport shooting, with a range that also includes tactical riflescopes and reflex sights. That background is relevant here because the company’s catalog spans both civilian and professional sighting systems rather than focusing on only one segment.

IOR also states that its riflescopes use German Schott glass, reflecting a strong emphasis on optical components. Beyond sporting optics, the company manufactures military optical equipment for infantry, artillery and armored vehicles, and its infantry range includes night-vision equipment. IOR further states that it introduced riflescopes with 35 mm and 40 mm main tubes, a detail that connects directly to the heavy-duty tube format used on this Recon model.
