IOR Patriot 9-36x56 IL (Mil/Mil)

• 9-36x magnification range: The wide zoom span lets the scope cover precise load development, target shooting, and long-range observation without changing optics, while the high top end helps with exact shot placement and reading small targets.
• First focal plane illuminated reticle: The FFP layout keeps reticle subtensions consistent throughout the zoom range, which matters for holdovers and ranging, while the red illumination improves reticle visibility against dark backgrounds.
• 40 mm main tube with 34.88 mrad adjustment: The large tube and generous elevation and windage travel give more room for dialing at extended distances and for building capable long-range rifle setups.
• Side focus from 7 m to infinity: The broad parallax range allows precise image focus from very short distances to far targets, helping reduce aiming error and keeping the target image sharp at high magnification.
• 56 mm objective and fully multicoated optics: The large objective, 90% light transmission, and fully multicoated lenses support a bright, high-contrast image that remains useful in poor light and during detailed target work.

About the IOR Patriot Series

The IOR Patriot series sits in the brand’s long-range and tactical riflescope range, built for shooters who need high magnification, repeatable adjustments, and a reticle system suited to measured corrections rather than simple point-and-shoot use. In the IOR lineup, Patriot models are aimed at precision shooting disciplines where exact holds, careful parallax control, and substantial internal adjustment matter as much as raw optical power.

Across the series, the emphasis is on first focal plane reticles, tactical turret layouts, and robust mechanical construction based around large-diameter main tubes. That design approach gives the shooter consistent reticle scaling through the zoom range and the adjustment travel needed for extended-distance work. The series also reflects IOR’s preference for strong optical performance, with fully multicoated lenses, large objective diameters, and practical features such as side focus and fast-focus eyepieces. In use, Patriot riflescopes are best suited to target shooting, long-range steel, and other applications where accurate dialing and reticle-based corrections are part of the shooting process.

About the IOR Patriot 9-36x56 IL (Mil/Mil)

The IOR Patriot 9-36x56 IL (Mil/Mil) is configured for shooters who want a riflescope focused on long-range precision rather than general-purpose field use. Its 9-36x magnification range starts high enough for deliberate shooting from supported positions and extends to a level that helps with fine aiming on small targets, target scoring, and spotting trace or impacts at distance. That makes it especially relevant for benchrest-style work, load testing, and tactical or competition setups where target detail is a priority.

The first focal plane reticle is a practical match for the Mil/Mil layout because the reticle scale remains true at every magnification. In real use, that means holdovers, ranging, and correction spotting can be done without returning to one specific power setting. The red illumination adds visibility when the reticle would otherwise blend into dark targets or shaded backgrounds, while still keeping the scope centered on precision work rather than close-range speed.

Mechanically, this model is built around a 40 mm tube and offers 34.88 mrad of elevation and windage adjustment, giving ample room for dialing at extended distances. The tactical turrets, multi-turn layout, counter-clockwise rotation, and zero stop are all useful for repeatable corrections and confident returns to zero after large elevation changes. A side-focus system adjustable from 7 m to infinity helps maintain image sharpness and minimize parallax error, which becomes increasingly important as magnification rises. Combined with the 56 mm objective, fully multicoated lenses, and 90% light transmission, the scope is designed to deliver the brightness and image definition needed for precise shot execution.

About IOR

IOR is a Romanian optics manufacturer headquartered in Bucharest. The company was founded in Bucharest in 1936 and was nationalized in 1948, giving it a long industrial background in optical production. Its product range covers riflescopes for hunting and sport shooting, along with tactical riflescopes and reflex sights, showing a clear focus on sighting systems for both civilian and professional use.

Within this field, IOR is also known for producing military optical equipment for infantry, artillery, and armored vehicles, as well as infantry night-vision equipment. The company states that its riflescopes use German Schott glass, and it also notes the introduction of 35 mm and 40 mm main tubes in its riflescope range. Those details are relevant to the Patriot series because they reflect IOR’s emphasis on durable construction, large adjustment capacity, and optics intended for demanding shooting applications.
