Vortex Razor HD 22-48x65 Straight

• 22-48x zoom range: Covers wide-area scanning at 22x and tighter detail work at 48x, making the scope equally useful for locating game, reading wind on distant terrain, or checking impacts on steel and paper.
• 65 mm HD optical system: The compact objective keeps the scope easier to carry than larger full-size models while still delivering the resolution and color fidelity needed to separate fine detail in difficult light.
• Straight-body design: A straight spotting scope is fast to align with a target, which helps when moving quickly from binoculars or a rifle to the eyepiece during hunting or range observation.
• Helical focus control: Fast, smooth focusing makes it easier to snap from near to far subjects without oversized knobs, helping with rapid target confirmation and efficient field use.
• Weather-sealed, tripod-ready construction: Waterproof, fogproof, shockproof construction and tripod adaptability make the scope practical for exposed ridgelines, vehicle-based glassing, and repeated range sessions.

About the Vortex Razor HD Series

Vortex Razor HD is the company’s premium spotting-scope series, built for users who need more than casual observation. Within the Vortex lineup, Razor HD sits above more general-purpose models and is aimed at hunters, shooters, and observation enthusiasts who rely on a spotting scope for long sessions in the field or on the range. The series is commonly associated with western hunting, precision long-range work, and competition, where image detail and dependable mechanics matter as much as raw magnification.

A defining trait of the series is its high-definition optical system, developed to reduce chromatic aberration and improve resolution and color fidelity. In practice, that means cleaner edges on antlers, clearer trace and splash at distance, and less visual fatigue during extended glassing. Razor HD spotting scopes also use rubber-armored, weather-resistant bodies designed to be waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof for hard outdoor use. The family includes compact and larger objective sizes, plus both straight and angled configurations, so users can choose between faster target acquisition or more flexible tripod viewing positions.

About the Vortex Razor HD 22-48x65 Straight

The Vortex Razor HD 22-48x65 Straight is a compact premium spotting scope that balances portability with enough magnification for serious field observation. Its 22-48x magnification range gives it a broad working envelope: the lower end is useful for scanning hillsides, following moving subjects, or maintaining a wider view at the range, while the upper end helps resolve small details when judging animals, checking shot placement, or reading mirage. Paired with a 65 mm objective lens, the scope stays more manageable to pack and mount than an 80 mm or 85 mm class model, which is an advantage for mobile hunting setups and frequent transport.

The straight-body layout is one of this model’s defining practical features. The straight eyepiece configuration makes it intuitive to point, especially when transitioning from binoculars or when quickly getting on a distant target from a vehicle window mount or tripod. The scope’s 16.7-17.0 mm eye relief supports comfortable viewing across the zoom range, while the 42.00 to 25.00 m/1000m field of view gives enough width for finding subjects before dialing up magnification for detail.

Mechanically, this model is built for regular outdoor use rather than occasional fair-weather observation. Fully multicoated optics help preserve contrast and brightness, and the fast helical focus design speeds up fine adjustment without adding bulk. Nitrogen filling, waterproof and fogproof sealing, shockproof construction, and tripod adaptability make the Razor HD 22-48x65 Straight a practical choice for hunting optics, range spotting, and general long-distance observation in changing conditions.

About Vortex

Vortex traces its roots to a Wild Birds Unlimited store opened by the Hamilton family in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1986. The Vortex brand entered the sport optics market in 2002, and the company is now headquartered in Barneveld, Wisconsin. Vortex is employee-owned and operated, with a product range that covers binoculars, riflescopes, spotting scopes, laser rangefinders, and red dots for hunting, shooting, and outdoor use.

Within that catalog, families such as Razor, Viper, and Kaibab show the company’s focus on segmenting optics by use and performance level. Vortex also integrates technologies such as GeoBallistics-powered ballistic tools in parts of its lineup, and in 2022 the company was selected to produce and deliver fire-control systems for the U.S. Army’s Next Generation Squad Weapons program. That mix of sporting optics and advanced aiming systems helps explain Vortex’s strong reputation in observation and shooting equipment.
