Athlon Argos HMR 2-12x42

• Wide 2-12x magnification range: Covers close woodland shots and longer open-ground holds in one scope, so the rifle stays versatile for stalking, general hunting, and mixed-distance field use.
• 42 mm objective with fully multi-coated lenses: Helps deliver a bright, clear image with good contrast, which matters most in the low-light periods when game is often active.
• Side-focus parallax adjustment: Lets the image and reticle stay properly aligned at varying distances, making precise shot placement easier than with a fixed-parallax hunting scope.
• Second focal plane illuminated reticle: Keeps the reticle visually consistent through the zoom range, while the red illumination helps the aiming point stand out against dark backgrounds in poor light.
• Capped turrets in a 1 inch argon-purged tube: Protects settings from accidental movement during transport and field carry, while the sealed, waterproof and fogproof construction supports dependable use in changing weather.

About the Athlon Argos HMR Series

The Athlon Argos HMR series sits in Athlon’s current hunting riflescope range as a practical, feature-rich line built for outdoorsmen who want more adjustment and versatility than a basic deer scope. The series is centered on second focal plane designs with a straightforward hunting format, combining useful magnification ranges with features that support real field shooting rather than bench-only use.

Across the line, Athlon equips the Argos HMR with advanced fully multi-coated lenses to improve light transmission and maintain a clear, usable image in the first and last light periods. The scopes are also argon-purged, waterproof, and fogproof, which suits rifles that may spend long days in wet blinds, on mountain stalks, or in changing temperatures. Reticle options in the series include AHMC, BDC 600, BDC 600A, and Mil-Dot, giving hunters a choice between simpler holdover references and more graduated aiming layouts. Aircraft-grade aluminum construction and capped turrets underline the series’ design philosophy: durable hunting optics with enough optical range and adjustment to handle varied terrain without becoming overly bulky or complicated.

About the Athlon Argos HMR 2-12x42

The Athlon Argos HMR 2-12x42 is the most compact model in the series, built around a magnification range that makes sense for hunters who move between short and medium-long distances in the same outing. At 2x, it remains quick to acquire in tighter cover, on moving game, or when shooting from awkward field positions. At 12x, it gives enough image scale for more deliberate shot placement across open fields, cut lines, and hill country without the bulk of a larger high-magnification optic.

The 42.00 mm objective and fully multicoated optical system are aimed at practical brightness and contrast rather than excess size, helping the scope stay trim at 298.00 mm and 561.00 g. A constant 91.00 mm eye relief supports comfortable head position and recoil clearance, while the fast-focus eyepiece helps bring the reticle into sharp definition quickly. The side-focus parallax adjustment is especially useful on a scope in this magnification class, because it lets the shooter fine-tune image sharpness and reduce aiming error as distances change.

This model uses a second focal plane reticle with red illumination, a layout many hunters prefer because the reticle keeps the same apparent size throughout the zoom range. That makes the sight picture familiar and uncluttered at both low and high power. The capped, multi-turn turrets favor field reliability over constant dialing, protecting settings from accidental movement while still offering substantial internal adjustment: 17.00 mrad / 58.00 MOA for both elevation and windage. The 1 inch tube, argon filling, and waterproof, fogproof, shockproof construction complete a scope designed for hard use in hunting conditions.

About Athlon

Athlon Optics was founded in 2014 and describes itself as a U.S. sports optics company. The brand focuses on optics for hunting, shooting, and outdoor use, with a catalog that includes riflescopes, binoculars, spotting scopes, rangefinders, red-dot sights, and thermal optics. Within its riflescope range, lines such as Cronus and Midas show the breadth of the company’s offering, from accessible field optics to more specialized models.

Athlon’s product development emphasizes practical optical and mechanical features that matter in use. Across the broader lineup, the company employs technologies such as UHD extra-low-dispersion glass to reduce chromatic fringe, ESP dielectric coating to improve prism light transmission in relevant products, and XPL exterior lens coating for added lens-surface protection. In riflescopes, Athlon is also known for features such as precision zero-stop systems on selected models. That combination of broad category coverage and application-focused design has given the brand a solid place in modern hunting and shooting optics.
