Vortex Razor HD Gen III 1-10X24 FFP

• True 1-10x versatility: The wide magnification range lets this LPVO move from close, fast shooting at 1x to more deliberate target work at 10x, reducing the need to choose between speed and reach.
• First focal plane reticle: With the reticle in the first focal plane, holdovers and subtensions stay consistent through the zoom range, which helps when magnification changes during dynamic stages or field use.
• Daylight-bright illumination: The red illuminated reticle remains easy to pick up in bright conditions, giving faster sight acquisition at low power while still preserving a precise aiming point at distance.
• Compact 34 mm design: A 34 mm tube, 256.00 mm overall length, and 610.00 g weight give the scope the adjustment range and durability expected from tactical optics without making the rifle overly front-heavy.
• Field-ready construction: Waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof construction with argon filling helps the scope stay reliable through weather changes, recoil, and hard use.

About the Vortex Razor HD (Gen III) Series

Vortex introduced the Razor HD Gen III 1-10x24 riflescope for 2020, establishing this family as a premium line for shooters who need a broad performance envelope in demanding use. Within the Vortex lineup, the Razor HD (Gen III) series sits in the professional end of the riflescope range, with configurations built around first-focal-plane reticles and 34 mm tubes. That combination reflects a design aimed at users who need accurate reticle scaling, generous adjustment travel, and a robust mechanical platform.

Competition shooters, along with military and law-enforcement users, are central to the role of the series. Across the family, Vortex positions these optics for applications that range from close, reactive shooting to precision work at longer distances, depending on configuration. Reticle options in the series include EBR-9, EBR-7D, and VMR-5 designs, with availability varying by model. The series currently spans 1-10x24, 4-24x44, and 6-36x56 formats, so the common theme is not one magnification band but a shared emphasis on durable construction, advanced optical performance, and reticle systems intended for practical holds rather than simple center aiming.

About the Vortex Razor HD Gen III 1-10X24 FFP

The Vortex Razor HD Gen III 1-10X24 FFP is an LPVO riflescope built for shooters who want one optic to cover close-range speed and longer-range precision. Its 1.00 x to 10.00 x magnification range is the defining advantage: at the low end, the scope supports rapid target acquisition and a more natural, heads-up shooting style, while the top end gives enough image scale for positive aiming on smaller or more distant targets. That makes it well suited to practical competition, tactical carbines, and general-purpose rifles that may be used across mixed distances.

The 24.00 mm objective lens keeps the front end compact, while the first focal plane reticle layout ensures that reticle subtensions remain valid throughout the zoom range. In practice, that matters when using holdovers or reference marks without being locked to one magnification setting. Red illumination with daytime-usable illumination improves reticle visibility in bright daylight, and the auto turn-off function helps conserve the CR2032 battery during transport or pauses between stages.

Mechanically, this model uses capped turrets, which suit a scope intended to spend much of its time on holds rather than frequent dialing. The capped layout protects settings from accidental movement when the rifle is carried, slung, or moved through barricades. A 34 mm tube provides a strong mounting platform and supports a generous 30.00 mrad of elevation and windage adjustment. With a fixed 91.00 mm eye relief, fully multicoated lenses, and a build that is waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof, the scope is configured for hard field use without giving up the handling expected from a compact LPVO.

About Vortex

Vortex traces its roots to a Wild Birds Unlimited store opened by the Hamilton family in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1986. The brand entered the sport optics market in 2002 and is now headquartered in Barneveld, Wisconsin. Vortex is employee-owned and operated, and its core focus is sport optics for hunting, shooting, and outdoor use.

The company’s catalog covers binoculars, riflescopes, spotting scopes, laser rangefinders, and red dots, with product families such as Razor, Viper, and Kaibab. It also develops ballistic tools powered by GeoBallistics technology. In 2022, Vortex was selected to produce and deliver fire-control systems for the U.S. Army’s Next Generation Squad Weapons program, which underlines the company’s experience in optics and aiming systems relevant to serious shooting applications.
