Hawke Vantage 30 WA IR 1.5-6x44 Product description

  • Exceptionally Wide Field of View at 1.5×: The H2 optical system delivers a field of view of 26.8 metres at 100 metres at minimum magnification — one of the widest available in any variable power riflescope. At 1.5×, the scope provides a near-panoramic sight picture that supports extremely fast target acquisition in driven hunting, battue shooting, and close-range dynamic situations where game may appear from any direction with minimal warning.
  • Very Large Exit Pupil for Low-Light Use: An exit pupil of 29.3 mm at 1.5× is exceptionally large and ensures a full, bright sight picture is available even with highly imprecise eye placement — a meaningful practical advantage when the rifle is raised and a shot must be taken immediately under time pressure in low-light conditions at dawn or dusk.
  • Compact and Lightweight for Driven Hunting: At 299 mm in length and 515 g, this is the most compact model in the Vantage 30 WA lineup, designed to minimise overall rifle length and weight on driven hunting platforms and semi-automatic rifles where balance and manoeuvrability are priorities.
  • Illuminated L4A Dot Reticle in Red and Green: The L4A Dot (2 MOA) reticle is illuminated in red and green across 5 brightness levels with off positions between each step. The 2 MOA centre dot provides a fast, clearly visible aim point at the short distances and low magnifications typical of driven hunting, without obscuring the target at the scope's upper power setting.
  • Generous Adjustment Range with ½ MOA Clicks: The capped, low-profile, resettable turrets provide an exceptionally generous 200 MOA of elevation and windage adjustment in ½ MOA click increments — a larger adjustment range than any other model in the Vantage 30 WA lineup, ensuring the scope can be zeroed across an unusually wide variety of mounting heights and ammunition combinations.

About the Vantage Series

The Hawke Vantage series is the broadest riflescope lineup in Hawke's product range, built on the H2 optical system and covering a wide variety of tube diameters, magnification ranges, and reticle configurations at an accessible price point. The range is designed for hunters, target shooters, and recreational shooters who require a reliable, versatile optic without the cost associated with higher-tier optical systems.

All Vantage models feature 11-layer fully multi-coated lenses delivering consistent light transmission and a wide-angle field of view. The lineup spans standard 1-inch, 30mm, and 34mm mono-tube chassis, covering first and second focal plane optics, side focus and fixed parallax variants, illuminated and non-illuminated reticles, and a broad selection of reticle designs. The Vantage 30 WA sub-series is defined by its wide-angle optical design, which delivers a substantially broader field of view at minimum magnification than standard optical configurations in the same magnification classes — a consistent characteristic across the entire sub-series that makes it well suited to driven hunting and other dynamic field applications.

About the Model (Hawke Vantage 30 WA IR 1.5-6x44 L4A Dot)

The Hawke Vantage 30 WA IR 1.5-6x44 L4A Dot is a second focal plane riflescope designed primarily for driven hunting, battue shooting, and close-range dynamic field use where the ability to acquire a fast sight picture at minimal magnification is the defining requirement. The 1.5–6× magnification range provides a 4× zoom ratio starting from a very low 1.5×, which gives a field of view of 26.8 metres at 100 metres — wide enough to track fast-moving game across a broad arc without losing sight of the target. The 6× upper end provides adequate image detail for controlled shots at the medium distances that represent the outer limit of this optic's intended use range.

The 44mm objective lens, combined with the H2 optical system and 11-layer fully multi-coated lenses, provides consistent light transmission across the magnification range. An exit pupil of 29.3 mm at 1.5× is among the largest available in any variable scope and ensures a full, immediately accessible sight picture even when the eye is positioned imprecisely behind the scope — critical in driven hunting where there is no time to carefully align the eye before the shot. The 90mm of eye relief provides safe clearance across a range of centrefire and semi-automatic platforms.

The L4A Dot (2 MOA) reticle is illuminated in red and green with 5 brightness levels and off positions between each step, controlled via a stepped rheostat. The capped, low-profile, resettable turrets provide 200 MOA of elevation and windage adjustment in ½ MOA click increments. Parallax is fixed at 91 metres. The fast-focus eyebell allows rapid dioptre adjustment. The mono-tube is nitrogen purged and fully sealed, providing waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof performance rated for all calibres. Overall length is 299 mm and weight is 515 g.

About Hawke

Hawke Optics is a British optics brand registered in England and Wales, with products distributed across Europe, North America, and international markets. The company produces a broad range of optical products including riflescopes, airgun scopes, binoculars, spotting scopes, red dot sights, and laser rangefinders, covering applications from hunting and precision shooting to nature observation and marine use.

Hawke organises its riflescope lineup into distinct optical system tiers — from the entry-level H2 through H5 to the flagship H7 — with each tier reflecting the glass specification, coating technology, and mechanical feature level of the products within it. The Vantage series is built on the H2 system, representing the entry level of Hawke's riflescope range and providing an extensive selection of configurations at an accessible price point.

Can this scope handle a heavy spring air rifle. Frendly regards Wietze

by Wietze

This product is unfortunately not suitable for airgun rifles. Hawke produces a special series of riflescopes that are appropriate for airgun use - the Airmax series.
