Vortex Razor HD Gen III 6-36x56 FFP

• 6-36x magnification range: Covers everything from locating targets at mid distance to reading trace and holding precisely at long range, so one riflescope can serve competition, tactical, and precision shooting roles.
• First focal plane reticle: The reticle stays proportional through the zoom range, which keeps holdovers and ranging references consistent at any magnification and speeds up corrections under time pressure.
• Lockable tactical turrets with Zero Stop: Large, repeatable adjustments are easy to dial for distance, while the locking system helps prevent accidental movement and the zero stop gives a fast, confident return to the original zero.
• 56 mm objective with fully multicoated lenses: The large objective and coatings support strong contrast and image brightness, helping the shooter resolve small targets and spot impacts in difficult light.
• Side parallax from 9m to infinity: Fine parallax correction keeps the target and reticle on the same focal plane across a very wide distance range, improving precision from close setup work to extended-range shooting.

About the Vortex Razor HD (Gen III) Series

Vortex Razor HD (Gen III) sits in the company’s premium tactical and competition riflescope range, built for shooters who need a broad performance envelope rather than a single-purpose optic. The series was introduced with the 1-10x24 configuration in 2020, and Vortex currently lists it in 1-10x24, 4-24x44, and 6-36x56 formats to cover close-quarters use, practical field shooting, and precision long-range work. Across the line, the common design language is a 34 mm tube, first-focal-plane reticles, and a mechanical layout aimed at fast dialing and dependable tracking.

Razor HD Gen III riflescopes are positioned for competition, military and law-enforcement use, with reticle options such as EBR-9, EBR-7D, and VMR-5 depending on the model. That gives the series a clear identity: practical reticle designs for holding, ranging, and rapid corrections rather than simple hunting-style aiming points. Within the Vortex lineup, Razor HD Gen III emphasizes a balance of optical resolution, wide usable magnification, and robust turret systems for shooters who expect the scope to work across changing distances and shooting positions.

About the Vortex Razor HD Gen III 6-36x56 FFP

Vortex Razor HD Gen III 6-36x56 FFP is the long-range specialist of the Gen III family, built for shooters who need both a wide top-end magnification and enough low-end field of view to stay efficient on the clock. The 6-36x range gives this riflescope the flexibility to engage smaller targets at extended distance, refine aiming on demanding stages, and still back off magnification when a wider view is more useful. Paired with a 56.00 mm objective and fully multicoated lenses, it is configured to deliver the contrast and image brightness needed for spotting detail, reading mirage, and maintaining target definition as conditions change.

The first focal plane reticle is especially important on a scope with this much zoom range because subtensions remain correct throughout the magnification band. In practice, that means holdovers and wind calls stay usable whether the shooter is zoomed in for precision or backed off for speed. The red illumination helps the reticle stand out against dark targets or complex backgrounds without changing the underlying reticle geometry.

Mechanically, this model is set up for serious dialing. Its lockable tactical turrets, Zero Stop, and 34.90 mrad of elevation travel support repeatable corrections for long-range shooting, while the CCW turret rotation suits shooters who prefer that layout for fast, intuitive adjustment. Side parallax adjustment from 9m to infinity adds useful versatility for everything from close-range zeroing to distant target work. Despite its substantial capability, the scope keeps a practical control layout with a fast focus eyepiece, 34 mm tube, and durable argon-filled construction designed for hard field use.

About Vortex

Vortex traces its roots to a Wild Birds Unlimited store opened by the Hamilton family in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1986. The brand entered the sport optics market in 2002 and grew into a broad optics manufacturer serving hunting, shooting, and outdoor users. Today, Vortex is headquartered in Barneveld, Wisconsin and is employee-owned and operated.

Its catalog covers binoculars, riflescopes, spotting scopes, laser rangefinders, and red dots, with product families such as Razor, Viper, and Kaibab forming the core of the lineup. Vortex also integrates ballistic tools powered by GeoBallistics technology, reflecting the company’s focus on practical field use rather than optics alone. In the riflescope segment, Vortex has built a strong reputation for tactical and precision-oriented designs that combine modern reticles, durable mechanics, and configurations suited to both competition and professional use.
