IOR Benchrest 36x42 Competition

• 36x fixed magnification: A dedicated high-power setup gives a consistently detailed sight picture for benchrest and F-class style shooting, without the distraction of changing magnification between strings.
• Side-focus parallax adjustment: Adjustment from 25 m to infinity helps keep the target and reticle on the same optical plane, which matters when aiming at very small scoring rings from a fixed shooting position.
• 1/8 MOA target clicks: Fine 3.5mm/100m - 1/8MOA adjustments support precise zeroing and careful correction work, making the scope well suited to load development and formal target shooting.
• MP-8 reticle in SFP: The 2. focal plane - SFP layout keeps the reticle visually consistent at all times, which is useful for shooters who want a stable aiming reference at the scope’s fixed 36x setting.
• 30 mm nitrogen-filled construction: A fully multicoated, waterproof, fogproof and shockproof build is designed to maintain optical clarity and mechanical reliability through changing weather and repeated range use.

About the IOR Benchrest Series

The IOR Benchrest series is built for shooters who prioritize precision target work over general-purpose field use. Within the IOR riflescope range, this family is aimed at benchrest, competition, and other disciplines where a stable shooting position, careful wind calls, and exact point-of-impact correction matter more than low magnification flexibility. The series focuses on the fundamentals that competitive shooters actually use: high magnification, fine adjustment values, parallax control, and a reticle layout that stays clean enough for precise aiming on small targets.

Mechanically, Benchrest models are configured around target-style turrets and repeatable adjustment behavior, while the optical system is intended to deliver the contrast and definition needed to resolve bullet holes, scoring rings, and mirage at distance. The series also reflects IOR’s long-standing preference for robust riflescope construction, with 30 mm or larger tube designs, sealed housings, and practical competition-oriented layouts rather than hunting-style shortcuts. For shooters building a dedicated target rifle, the Benchrest line sits as a specialized option for controlled, deliberate shooting where precision and consistency take priority.

About the IOR Benchrest 36x42 Competition

The IOR Benchrest 36x42 Competition is a fixed-power 36x riflescope designed for shooters who want a dedicated optic for paper targets, benchrest matches, and other precision disciplines where maximum detail at a known distance is more important than versatility. A fixed 36x layout removes the variable-power mechanism and keeps the scope’s role straightforward: it is set up to give a highly enlarged target image for careful aiming and exact shot placement from a supported position.

The 42 mm objective keeps the scope relatively trim for its magnification class, while the 30 mm tube provides a solid platform for adjustment travel and mounting on competition rifles. The MP-8 reticle is placed in the second focal plane, so the reticle appearance remains unchanged in the sight picture. On a fixed-magnification target scope, that gives the shooter a familiar aiming reference every time the rifle comes onto the bags. Because the reticle is non-illuminated, the image stays uncluttered for daylight target use.

For fine zeroing work, the scope uses 1/8 MOA clicks with capped target turrets, a combination that suits deliberate correction rather than rapid field dialing. The side-focus parallax adjustment from 25 m to infinity is especially important at 36x, where even small parallax errors become more noticeable. A fast-focus eyepiece, fully multicoated lenses, and a waterproof, fogproof, shockproof nitrogen-filled body round out a scope built for repeated range use in changing conditions.

About IOR

IOR is a Romanian optics manufacturer headquartered in Bucharest. The company was founded in Bucharest in 1936 and was nationalized in 1948, giving it a long industrial background in optical production. Alongside commercial sporting optics, IOR manufactures military optical equipment for infantry, artillery, and armored vehicles, which places riflescope production within a broader tradition of rugged optical engineering.

In the sporting segment, IOR produces riflescopes for hunting and sport shooting as well as tactical models, and it states that its riflescopes use German Schott glass. The company also notes that it introduced 35 mm and 40 mm main tubes, reflecting a design approach that has often emphasized strong mechanical construction and generous internal scope architecture. That mix of military, tactical, and sporting experience is directly relevant to target optics such as the Benchrest series.
